Has anyone changed there platinum plugs yet for this engine type? If so, which brand did you use?
Anyone else here skeptical to wait 100,000 miles to change the plugs or is it really OK if there's no related problem until then.
Mine's at 3years / 36000 miles now.

New motors can go a long way on plugs, but 100,000 is streaching it.
Lots of people on here buy the spendy plugs, have problems, post about them, then people who have driven and worked on cars for years tell them to buy normal high grade plugs.
A few people have even started polls about good / bad plugs.
Most of them after spending big bucks buying split tips or platnum tiped and after a couple months or less they have idle, miss fire problems.
When GM sells there cars to us, they have normal plugs in them, they were designed to run using them.
Normal good plugs run about 2 bucks a plug, and I FEEL last about 30 thousand before they should be replaced. I just have a 4 banger and tend to do mine more often. But that's less than 10 bucks. I figure I'll save more than that on gas milage at todays prices.

I've been running NGK Iridium plugs for about 30k km (changed them at 15k km, noticed a big difference in idle and WOT accelleration) and have never had a problem with them. My gas mileage is better and my engine runs smoother.
As long as they're gapped and installed correctly they should perform at least as well as Delco platinum plugs (which are the stock plugs).
The Iridium's design is similar to a stock plug though, it's just the anode's material that's different. I believe most people who've had problems with plugs were running splitfires or Bosch +4 plugs that introduce novelty head design.

I was thinking of putting the Bosch+4 plugs in but I wasn't aware that there could be problems with these.

I just installed the Bosch 2+ and love them. Since doing that I idle better and the car seems slightly more responsive.

I just put NGK Iridiums from PFYC.com and my car runs like new. 57K Better acceleration and smoother idle. I have had them about a weeks so stay tuned but as of now. A++++
By the way I recommend getting new wires along with your plugs. Since the genious's at GM didn't lube the boots you will more than likely destory two or more removing them. Save yourself the hassle.
