Hi, I'm wondering if someone can help me with my problem. I recently had to replace the hoses from my AC compressor because one of them was cut thru and on my car, you have to replace two hose, the one from the condensor and and another one going to the firewall of the car because they both come together as one unit (which I must say is a b*tch replacing). Anyways, I replaced everything I needed to and took my car to a mechanic to get it recharged. Well, they ran their diagnostics to check that the hose was attached tightly and whatever else and then recharged the system. When they finished everything, they went to check to see if the AC is blowing cold air, but the compressor wouldn't engage. My AC worked fine before I replaced the hoses so I don't know what could be wrong. They checked everything: fuses are fine, relay is fine, all the pressures are fine, and it holds a charge. So, they took a wire, hooked up one end to the "+" end of my battery and the other end to the compressor and it turned on, within two seconds I had cold air coming out. Once they disconnected it, the compressor shut off and warm air was blowing again. After more tests, they said that they found out that it wasn't grounding properly and there may be a bad wire somwhere. They said that I may have cut a wire installing my stereo system, but I know there is no way I could have damaged anything with the AC installing my system. I even doubled checked all the wiring behind the AC/Heat control myself today and everything looked fine. They suggested just installing a switch under my dashboard, some how bypass the ground, probably have a direct power supply hooked up to the compressor (not sure how they wanted to install it) so when I turn on the AC I also have to flip the switch to turn on the compressor. Is there anything else I can do. Does this seem logical? Also, is there any way I can find out if it's not grounding properly?
