A question was posted to the C4 list about going from green coolant to dex cool. I replied that it would be useless to convert to Dex-Cool on a 1984 Corvette that only saw green stuff. Below is my reply to him on the list.

AFAIK, the answer is no. The GM Dex-Cool is only meant to be used in cooling systems that never saw glycol based coolants ever. From my understanding, once a vehicle has had green stuff put into a dex-cool based system, the properties of dex-cool no longer apply. And since it would be very difficult to totally flush out every last bit of residue, dex cool would seem to be useless in a cooling system that only saw green stuff.

Did I give the correct information? I ask this because I know we have Gran Damn with his experiences as a dealership mechanic as well as others with dex-cool experience.
