I'm wondering if someone can help diagnose a potential future problem. Lately when I start my car, it takes a good second longer than it did a few weeks ago. I'm hoping it's spark plugs but fearing it's the starter. The battery is less than a year old. It could be dirty fuel injectors because we have the reformulated gas here.
Anyone have any suggestions? I have 81,000 miles on her so I'm thinking it could be the plugs.
Thanks.

My car, same prob - till one day my car just wouldn't start. I brought it in lots of times to check out, but every single time the car would start-up fine for the mechanics...... till a couple weeks ago. My car decided it didn't want to start one day, so I had to get it towed to the dealer. It turned out the Pass Key failed. they had to replace the pass key cylinder.
I'm still having probs with delayed start up from time to time. The plugs are ok, I'm assuming the alternator is eventually gonna be on it's way out tho :(
How long since you had the plugs replaced?

There is a "normal" (according to GM) problem due to the fact that the fuel pump is located in the gas tank (away from the engine) and that sometimes causes delays in starting up the car because the pump has to pump fuel farther to get it to the engine.
If your pump is getting old or if you have a clogged-up fuel filter it might get worse.
Usually putting the key on the "on" position a couple of seconds before actually starting it will fix this.

The plugs are original, 81,000 miles on em.
I've been trying to leave the key in the "on" position for a bit before starting & it does seem to help. I may need to check my fuel filter too.
I think I'll swap the spark plugs first. I'm thinking it's time, even though GM says 100,000 miles.
