No.

The 3400 is an OHV engine based on the 3100 V6.

The old 3.4 is a DOHC engine based on the old 3.1L V6.

the z34 has more power. i believe its like 215 hp. personally i think that gm should have given our cars that engine.

Personally, I'd like to have seen the 3800 S/C engine make it's way into the GA... from the factory...

Give the GP the Northstar engine... put it the right way too.. RWD ;)

Actually, the Monte Carlo Z34's have the 3800 V6, which is a 3.8L, and has 200hp and 225ft-lbs of torque. Same thing as the stock Firebirds/Camaros of that year.

Only the 98 Monte Z34 has the 3800, the previous years did have the 3.4 DOHC and since there is no option on 98 Montes for a 3400 (base models have 3100), then he is obviously talking about an older gen. The 99+ that have the 3800 now is an SS.... there is no more Z34. They got rid of the 3.4 DOHC because it was a high maintenence engine, GAs are for a family who are on a budget, not an enthusiast
