help me!!!

ok heres the deal. my engine was replaced a few weeks ago. it drives fine but the ses light keeps comin on. i brought it back to the shop and they said they needed to have it for a week. i said no i need my car so i didnt keep it there. so heres the deal. i just wanna know whats wrong so i can fix it myself. heres what happens. i'll be driving and it'll be drivin fine, then i'll stop and the whole damn car will shake like crazy. i go and once i get goin, floor it and a big ass black cloud will come outta the exhaust and then it'll be fine. but this happens daily. where is all this carbon coming from!!! i think it might be the egr valve, but i dono where it is. if i'm wrong please correct me. it will occasionally burn a lil oil also.

No EGR valve on Quads, we have an oil/air separator. I think you should take it back, but try and make arrangements with them so they don't have to keep it so long.

hmmm.. that would explain why i couldnt find th EGR then. alright i'll take it back and see if they can not have it as long

Either O2 snesor or Fuel pressure regualtor

i believe also that it is the o2 sensor. but its just been drivin terrible latley. i'm bringin it into the shop as soon as i can.

If you want to fix it your self, check the codes and see what comes up. here's a link to my Q4 faq with the procedure called "Checking for DTC's (codes)" and a list of trouble codes. I agree that it sounds like it is running rich, and could be the o2 sensor, regulator, injector, wiring problem, or faulty ECU. Much of the parts info and the AFC and MSD installs were stolen from fbod BTW. I hope he'll forgive me. :rolleyes:

$h!t, that's right. I was thinking that the beretta q4's ran til' 94, and i knew there was no obdii q4 in a retta, but that they came the year after. I feel like such an IDIOT! lol

No sweat, '94 and '95 are both kind of odd-ball, not true OBD-I or OBD-II either, kind of a hybrid.

i know its an OBD-I but the paperclip trick doesnt work. anyone know if (and where) you can buy a scanner? 'cause i seriously want one.

You should be able to find a code retriever at any autozone near you, or online. If you want a scan tool, i'd recommend ebay as they are fairly expensive.

I am using one called Autoxray and it works just fine. I got it at Checker Auto. It's the one just for OBD1. Can't remember how much, I think it was around $125.00 a couple of years. They do make one that will work on both OBD1 and 2 but it's around $300 I think.....
