1. The website shows a two different night pictures, are they both the same unit??
2. Is the dimmer/inverter switch required to turn them on?
3. How hard are they to install?
4. Why does ebay have procarparts gauges for $29 where their website has them for $25? Is there a difference?.
5. I see that the 96-98 auto tranny gauges are silver and the manuals are white. Anyone know if you can get the autos in white?
6. Anybody with a 96-98 have pictures?
Thanks in advance. I think i'm going to buy them unless someone has a good reason why I shouldn't.

if you are talking about the reverse indiglo on that website, one is for green and the other is blue. in my opinion they both look the same online but when you get them home...the blue is much brighter. It has a switch to change it from blue to green. and it also has a dimmer switch as well and these gauges get bright:)

I installed them on a 2001gt. THey were not very difficult to install but very time consuming. You have to be very inventive as to how to install them. The gauges come with zero instructions.
However the job is not bad all in all:agree:

I am not sure about what the dimmer switch looks like on the model that you want to install them on. But the wiring installation is not too bad. First find a good ground for the back wire. Then on my 2001 I tapped into the dimmer switch module. I did not tap into the dimmer itself but just the module. The gauges will have a blue/green switch with its own rheostat for dimming. So find a wire that supplies power when the headlights are on only. For your model I am not sure if the dimmer module lights up when the lights are on but on mine it did. On my year it does and I tapped into that wire with the red wire from the gauges. Any more questionson wiring let me know. As for the physical installation of the guages, it will take some time and ingenuity to mount and align the gauges. I hope this helps:D

so hook the red wire up to the positive feed going through the dimmer switch already in my car?

No do not hook the red wire to the dimmer switch!!! If you do this the gauge lighting will be extremely dim. basically it will be double dimming the guages if that makes sense!! Find a 12 volt wire that turns on with your head lights! I used the wire goning to the light that illuminates the dimmer switch panel. I wish I knew what the dimmer switch looked like to help you out more!! I hope this helps!!!:agree:

ok, that helps a lot. I just put keyless entry on my car today and i had to tap into the park lamp wire, which also happens to light up the dash board. Is that all there is, 12v and ground? if so, that will be a piece of cake.

it will take you more time to mount the gauges and align them than it will take to wire it. easy huh!!! post some pics when you are gone!!!:agree:

i haven't recieved them yet, should come in sometime next week. I am assuming that a 96 should be easier to align for lack of "boobies" and it is all one fully connected piece.

I do not think it will come in one piece!! Mine came in six!! one for fuel gauge, one for water temp, one for tach and one for speed, then two half moons for the idiot lts!!! talk about a pain to align and the only ones that are mountable are the tach and speedometer. it is time consuming but worth it:eek:

i installed those gauges on my car....had to resize the speedometer hole so the needle would quit sticking. after about an hour or so, finally got it hooked up and last night i looked at it all lit up, and my needles aren't as orange as they should be???? I hooked the power wire to my windshield wiper fuse, which only comes on when i have my keys in the ignition, is there another place that i could hook the wire up to, to get my needles to glow really bright...the dimmer on the indiglo is up all the way as is my factory dimmer. any suggestion would be appreciated:D

Is that just the gauge panel that is inside the clear plastic or is it the entire unit that is held on with 4 small torx bolts, I just took the entire unit out to clean the inside of the clear plastic but can't get into it, it is glued together.

yeah, im talking about inside the plastic piece where the gauges are....i got the new ones on....trimmed the speedometer hole a bit, but the needles are a dimmer orange instead of a bright and the factory dimmer and indiglo dimmer is up to the max....stumps me as to why it would do that.

I'm not an electronics wiz by any means but I'm thinking that that wire doesn't get the full 12v current but a bit less so there fore it doesn't lite up the best it should.

I got mine and spent a good while trying to get em to work but other then having the faces in I have nothing done. I have them set and screwed inplace but I can't seem to find a place to wire it up and even worse is that my gauges are reading all weird which I am sure is due to when I had to take off the needled to get the face on. Is there a certain way that they should be put back on, like to they have to be pointing to the lowest they can be before you push them into place?

someone posted a reply somewhere on this forum how to put the needles on the right way and how to take them off. I didn't take my needles off, i slipped it on there by moving all the needles to the 12 o clock position...but then again after i did that, we had to fix it because the speedometer didn't work right and the gas gauge wasn't working either...but all is fixed. For wiring them up....i had mine hooked to my windshield wiper fuse in the fuse box becuz we couldn't find where to put the power at, so whenever i have my keys in the ignition but the car isn't running they light up...hoping to find a new place to put that power wire. hope this helps you a little bit.

I just installed them in my 95, but the idiot lights and the turn signals don't line up. Anyone else have this problem?

How did you fix it when they gas and speedometer wasn't reading right?

We trimmed the speedometer hole slightly and found a piece of plastic on the gauge that the needle was rubbing on so we trimmed that a bit also...i don't know what my boyfriend did to the gas gauge but whatever he did worked....i think he might've moved the needle around a bit.....I too have a problem w/my gauges not lining up w/the dummy lights....but it doesn't bother me much, thinking about getting white paint and painting over it....don't really need them showing like they do:cool:

my problem with installing mine is how to get them to actually stay attached to the existing faces. i was going to foot the bill to have it professionally installed but they had the car apart and then told me that there is no way to keep them on the face. i then emailed procarparts and they told me to use 2 sided tape. i think that would place the gauges too far out and the needles would rub on them. how did all of you get them to stay on..i saw one of you screwed em into place. could you detail a little about that or give any other methods that HAVE worked?? THANX!!!!

On my 2001GT, I took out the needle stop pin and aligned the guages then after that I put the pin in to hold the faces. THe pin is tapered wider at the bottom!!

indoor outdoor tape really thin and really sticky.... or...
u could use what i did and use crazy gel and it was instant plus since it was gel i was able to move it around a little
alright, I was considering getting one of these for my 92 grand am, but it seems everybody is having problems with them not lining up right, or the needles getting messed up. That's something I can't deal with.
I have a 92 grand am se, without tachometer and have been looking to get the custom gauges for an added addition to the appearance. Has anybody here installed the gauges in a 92 ga with success ?
If you could offer a guide as to how you got it put on, without messing up the needles and etc, and how you got the casing apart (it appears to be glued together) it would ease my worries and I might actually go ahead and purchase them.
