What brand of paint would you reccommend for painting the inside of my car with?

I used Dupicolor for all of my work but a friend of in used Plastikote for his work and it looks pretty nice. From what I understand is that the Duplicolor is specifically for exterior touch up and such, and the Plastikote is for plastic(obviously). I figured I'd go with the Duplicolor because since it is for exterior it should hold up better.

Depends on what parts you are going to be painting. Also, fyi: Plastikote is just a brand name, not necessarily for plastic.

I used Krylon paint. Banner red. I think it went well with the exterior.

i just used some apple red Rustoleum interior/exterior paint i found at home depot. i used automotive primer first, then a lot of sanding and a few layers of paint, then clear coat. after that, i used meguiars to polish and wax the parts, and it looks great.

Krylon Fusion hands down and use some clear coat trust me on this if you don't your paint will scratch, and it makes it shinier, but definately use Krylon Fusion:D

Hey puck, show us some pics.. and I agree, you should drop some clearcoat on it just to protect it.

for painting the plastic trim pieces.... i say Dupicolor! and some dupicolor primer.......ive never had a problem with it peeling or any thing.....and i did it to my car over 1 year ago.

when it comes to the vinyl dash..... i say go with a stuff called vinylkote.... its the best!!!! its pricey but wroth it, dont have to worry about peelin chiping or cracking because its a dye and soaks into the dash.......http://www.parasolinc.com/Product_General/Display/Product_General.asp?Link=10

check it out. thats what im using!

if you have any questons just ask...ive painted everything on the inside of the GA.

i used duplicolor to paint some interior trim in a buddy of mines ford ranger. we wrapped the truck around 4 trees, which in turn knocked some the interior panels loose and others broke. after the crash the panels sat in the pouring rain for about a day. when we went to the truck to collect the rest of the personal items the pieces that had broke were laying in the floor. the paint stayed in tact on all of the panels, despite the rain, the jar, being broke and the chemicals that were applied to them numerous times. maybe just a freak occurence, but i was impressed

i like it. why didn't you paint the vent rings? how long did it take?

Puckman27
09-09-2003, 05:27 PM
i didn't paint the rings around the vent cuz i think it looks overdone sometimes. but thats just my opinion.

it took me about 3 weeks to re-paint the mirrors and do the interior. i pretty much only worked on it a few hours after work, and on the weekends. the humidity didn't help out much either, so it took longer than it should of.

i believe in overkill too, but i think it would look pretty good. why dont you try it and see if you like it? just before the paint dries kind of hold one in place to see if you like it. if you do, let the paint dry. if you dont, wash the paint off. overkill would be painting the entire dash a color that vivid.

eh, we'll see. i can always do that some other time, if i still have my car after this week.
