There are a couple of bolts at the bottom of the armrest cubby hole, under the rubber mat. There are a few nuts in the front of the console too, under the little shelf there. On each side of the console, towards the side of the seats, there are push pins.
I think that's all.

1) remove the radio bezel. it just pops off, no screws or nuts.
2) remove the shelf under the radio bezel. it has two screws, one at the edge of each cup holder. once those are out, that piece just pops out.
3) now you can see the two nuts under that last piece that hold the center console in, remove those.
4) in 99s there is actually a bolt on the sides holding it in, near the front of each front seat. youll need to take the socket off the wrench for this, and either do it by hand, or use some pliers. thats not enough room with your seat in there still.
5) theres two more bolts at the bottom on the storage bin. same size as the ones on the side of console.
6) for easier removal, take off your shift handle. to do this, turn the key to on, put your foot on the brake, and more the shifter back to 1. now pull the boot down and youll see a staple thats holding it in on the side facing the windshield. use a small flathead to pry it out completely. now your shift knob comes right up.

Thanks for the help guys, so does anyone know about the easiest way to take the rings around the air vent off? i don't want to start pulling on them and break something, and what type sand paper would i use to prepare it for paint?

Use a hanger and if you look inside there are 3 clips. Go in with the hanger and gentle pull two out then the hole piece should come out................ Sand Paper real fine ( i forget the grit #, but i think it's like 200 )........... Good Luck!!!!

Do not do it like that..... A friend of mine did his like that a year ago and it looks like shit now......... Take your time..... Sand it, clean it,prime it,sand it , prime it again, sand it, spray it, sand it, spray it again, sand it, spray it a third time (ALL LIGHT COATS)(AND LET DRY IN BETWEEN COATS), Clear coat about 4-5 light coats........ And you will love the outcome!!!!! Half ass jobs mean half ass quality!!! People ask me all the time were i bought those colored pieces in the interior i just laugh and tell them i got it off e-bay!!!!!!! LOL

You can get duplicolor or krylon from any autostore. Walmarts even have it in the car section.

Nice int Droopy......I did sand mine down with like the 200 grit I thihk, but after that I went straight into painting, light coats, think I ended up with like 5 coats and no clear coat, year and half later,no fading, nor cracking, still shinny.I guess its the way you spray it,nice smooth steady stokes back and forth(or from left to right) And let completly dry between each coat. But I deffly would say for best results do as much as you can when you paint,it might seem like a lot of work but it means you won't have to go back to fix something for a while or at all:)
