I have just completed swapping engines in my 1995 Grand Am.
I swapped my original 3100 engine for a brand new 2000 Aztek 3400 rated at 185/210. The engine had never been in a car and is brand new.
The engine runs strong and is now undergoing a very gentle break in period.

P.S. Thank you to all the people who helped me gather information for the swap and thanks to my mechanic Dave for his help as well.

i think its cool and all that you swapped it... but why did you swap it for only 25 horsies? and 25 torquies? couldnt you have dropped in an even stronger engine? unless you got the engine for cheap or something.

Simply because this engine is the easiest to swap for my original 3100. This 3400 is also the 3x00 engine with the most stock horsepower. In addition i got a killer deal on it from matt. If I had gone with a bigger engine say a 3.8 SC i would have needed a stronger tranny and custom drive shafts, along with custom motor mounts. It would just not have been cost effective.

well how much did it cost you?

I only paid $500 for an engine that had never been in a car and had ZERO miles on it.

Sounds cool man. It's a nice swap too, no major work really needed as the 3400 and 3100 are identical motors.
"No replacement for displacement." :D

What is wrong with the insert you currently have on your car? Is it bad (collapsed) or does it not fit correctly?

its really soft and when i drive the car the exhuast that had to be set up moves with the motor and bounces on the sway bar under the car. Plus with the new mount it will help my torque get to the ground better, and once i have the insert and the lower dogbone i'll be set.

Sorry, I've been busy lately. The install cost me $200.
