So I go to a supposed, reputable tint shop in my home town to get a nice tint job on my car. When I got back the tiniting by the top portion of my rear window where a whole bunch of small black dots are (sorry hard to explain) did not stick so I have about a 3 inch space at the top of the window that looks like crap. Well I was kind of upset and asked the guy what they could do to fix it..he said the only thing that could be done was to paint that portion..What I'm asking my fellow grand am owners is has this happened to you or is this guy telling me the truth do they have to paint it? Thanks in advance!

eyebrows are nothing but viny. that just goes on the inside to cover the dot matrix. go to ur nearest tint shop (not the original one) and have them put it on! u could also get the exterior ones from ryan at www.Grafxwerks.com

IMO, a good tint place CAN tint over that.
I have seen it done flawlessly before.
Even our rear window looks pretty damn nice compaired to some I have seen.

I've heard of people gently wet sanding the dots down a little before tinting. Unfortunatly I heard about this after I had mine tinted:(

from what ive heard, a good tint shop will know what a heat gun is, and use it in this case. my tint looks bad on the dot matrix, but im gonna get all my tint redone as soon as i find a place that can do it right.

the dot matrix on my gf's is tinted and it has stuck so far. after they first done it they told me it wouldn't stick real good for a couple days. they told me to bring it back after the glue started to get a little sticky and they'd press it back on there. i carried it back a couple days later, they repressed it, and it's still there. so if a shop has semi-intelligent people it can be done.

my o2 gt has a flawless back window. Had the shop sand the dot matrix before installation. My wifes 01 gt coupe and daughters 98 sunfire gt are the same. If you don't, you get the grey crap at the top. Have them re-do it if it is warrantied. Any good shop should cover you.Good Luck.

I also had mine tinted by a guy in the city here. He painted my dot matrix as well. It blends in because my car is black. You also really can't tell it's painted. I supposed that is the easier method rather than a heat gun to the dot matrix. It's all personal prefernce/skill level.

I've also seen them tinted over, and I wouldn't pay full price if the car looked bad. A reputable tint shop would know how to fix it /do it right the first time without you having to haveto ask for advice. Thats really ashame :(
Personall if you opt to cover it in vinyl, I'd rather have it on the inside of the window (with black vinyl) so it can't be seen from the outside....thats a little to ricer-ish for me.
