vinyl on the turn signals vs blackouts

Which do you think looks better, vinyl on the turn signals or blackouts?

ive had both, and honestly, they are totally different. the covers make your headlights 1/2 as bright, and i hated them. i used to (at night) turn my fogs on and off, and with them off id see nothing at all.

on the other hand, the vinyl lets all light through for your headlights but you loose your side turn signals. if someone is next to you and you dont see em, they wont know that youre changing lanes.

i think the vinyl makes the car look cleaner, but when i pulled the vinyl off a few days ago the car looked nice too.

Headlight covers only belong on black cars IMO.... on other cars it stands out too much and looks like a bugs eye...

I say ditch the headlight covers (sell them to me) and get vinyl:angel1:

even though i am late on this post, i have the headlight covers on my car, and it does dim your lights by half, however, even though both are illegal, the headlight covers can be taken off, and the turnsignal vinyl covers wont let you pass inspection. i had to rip mine off to pass. i dont know about you guys but i dont feel like buying new ones and putting them back on so that is why i bought the covers.


does anyone know if there is a brighter headlight i could buy that would give me more light through the covers?

I have headlight covers and I dont drive much at night execept on the main drag and the interstate so I dont really care if the lights are dimmer. I think they look cool and yes they look way better on black IMO

It doesnt matter at all if they dim your lights at all because your not suppose to drive with them on at night.

you're supposed to take them off at night. and i like vinyl better for GAs. looks cleaner i think. headlight covers look pretty good on black ones. i think someone should hurry up and make clear corners/lights for the 99+ GA

I have completely black headlight covers and I have drove at night with them on, I just turn on my 55w foglights and they light up the road pretty good on a street that is already partially lit. NO light gets through. I like the vinyl on my taillights (the spiderwebs) but not on the headlights, no.

ur car is silver.. go with the vinyl. I've had my blackouts for awhile, but once I got vinyl, I haven't even considered putting them back on. They were a PITA anyway when I forgot to take 'em off.

Covers or black lights on dark cars, chrome on light colored cars.

Andrew, the vinyl only goes on the outer turn signal area on the headlights. Any more and there would be no point in having headlights. On your car I would say go with either vinyl on the turn signal or get clear corner headlights on eBay or the DIY method with GTS clear covers.

but the black headlights with the clear lens look even better"FYI" USE YOU'R OEM AJUSTERS AND YOU WONT HAVE THE AIMING ISSUES :)

I have silver so it wouldn't matter either way, and I'd rather have the increased light output so I don't have any more run ins with raccoons.

Well I didnt put vinyl on my turn signals. I painted them silver.lol
Used some plastic primer then GM silver paint till I got it to the right darkness that I wanted. then clear coated it. In the day time you cant see the lights, but at night they shine good. I love it. Best mod sofar besides the exhaust.
