Need Tranny help fast, no 1st or 4th gear

It's a 94 Grand Am GT 3.1 liter

It has the 4 speed auto. I have no 1st or 4th gear.

Second and 3rd seem to hold fine and shift normal.

I had a code for transmission range selector. I replaced the switch on top, but still have no 1st or 4th.

Any ideas ?

Have you checked the fluid level and color??

I'm guessing you have, but had to ask.

Yep fluid and level are good (but thanks).

Weird to lose 1st and 4th. Like I said 2nd and 3rd hold good with no slip.

Hasn't this ever happened to anyone else ? I can't be the only one.
