My driver side head light was dim. So I replaced it with a new one. It is still dim. I checked the fuse and it is good. All the connections are good. What to do next?

Check for a bad ground. If that is the problem, even the super brights will suffer.

The dealer told me they had to rewire the headlight. I don't what that means but sounds hard.

I know this is an old thread, but my 99 GT has this same problem. I have checked the fuses, connections, and replaced the bulbs twice. My passenger headlight is fine. My driver's side is really, really, really dim. Doesn't get brighter with brights either. Help me please!!!!!!! I saw that someone took it to the dealer and it 'had to be rewired'. How much did this cost?? All help is appreciated!!!!!!

rewired means ,they prob put new wires to that bad headlamp ,how? either bypassing the original wires going to the headlight or checking voltage drop at the connector itself and fixing the voltage drop which could be in a bad ground or positive lead ,you can tap to the other good headlamp and it will work also, only is better to have them the original way thru the pertaining circuits or relays /fuses

well i replaced the bulbs with sylvania silverstars and replaced the fuses and relay and still have a dim headlight. next is to chase out the grounds thru the harness then a new socket. anyone else with some info on where the ground runs too please help.

why not just get a voltmeter mesure voltage between both headlights .. and just cut the ground wire and make a new connection on the fram? will cause a new ground with a clean connection and then u know its not the ground.. but I bet it is
Also check the socket for corrosion and use electrical cleaner

well....here is another person....
i've tried multiple things though...
at first.....i thought it was the fuses...
i changed the fuses...
then thought maybe its the bulbs?
changed the bulbs...
then...thought to myself...bah! its the wiring harness itself....
got another wiring harness...grounded it...blah blah...got it connected.....SAME THING!
can i please get some help?
my passenger side lights wont work nor will my fogs
i turn on the lows and highs...either way...only the driver side works

ok i fixed my headlight finally. the orange wire was broken and corroded where it had rubbed n a fender brace. about a foot back from the plug. i stripped it back soldered it together and heat shrinked it. works like new. took me longer to disassemble and reassemble then to fix problem. while i was at it i removed my intake air silencer since it was in the way of my big hands fitting in there. brace wasnt attached to the fender on bottom but was bolted on top so i removed it till i can get better weather and rivet it or bolt it together.
