After reading so many bad things about dex cool I don't know which to do. On one side I head DO IT DO IT DO IT. On the other I hear DON't DO IT it will screw it up. Someone help me out.

I have read people debate wich is better on here. The biggest problem you will face is making SURE ALL the old stuff is completely out of the system before switching.
Bad things happen when the two interact.

If the car already has Dex in it stick with the Dex. If it has the green stick with the green. Simple, and much less work and worry not having to try to get all traces of the old coolant out of the car.

Whatever you do, forget about the Dex 'long life'. Change the coolant regularly as if it was the green stuff.

sunrunner is right. This 5 year/150,000 mile life is doubtful. Not so much because of the coolant but because your cooling system is still prone to getting dirty no matter what kind of coolant you use.
I have used Dex Cool in my GA since I bought it and I have not had any bad things happen to the cooling system because of the coolant. I have gone through 2 radiators but that was because they were just out and out defective.
I had a 94 Skylark which used the Green coolant and had the same problems with the radiator on it.
I will remind you that GM does NOT recommend Dex Cool in any of thier cars older than 1996.

i recommend putting a new 180 dergee thermostat in when you change the coolant. it makes a big difference in cooling.

I agree, the dealer was full of BS. I have been running Dex in it since I had it and it still blew the intake gasket. I really don't think the coolant would be the cause of the gasket blowing.

Although I have a limited amount of automotive knowledge, I'll second that :agree:
