Im at a loss as to what to do. I just got done installing a very nice system in the GT (nothing overkill, just two twelves and some highs) only to find that when I turn up my system even slightly, my rearview mirror keeps falling down! I know im going to get the naysayers telling me thats what I get for installing a system, but my buddy has an 00 gt that has had a system for a year and isnt having this problem at all. Has anyone else had this problem, and if you did what did you do about it?? Thanks in advance for any advice!

My guess as to why you're having problems and your friend is not is that they changed the mirror design in either 2002 or 2003. I personally find the new design to be better for vibration, but I guess that's not the case with yours.
Check to see if there's any tightening screws on the back of the mirror. If not, maybe apply some thick grease (like Vaseline) to the pivot ball to help. I'm really at a loss on this one.

You said your mirror keeps falling down? Like... it falls off of the windshield, or just out of alignment?
If it's falling off the windshield you need special adhesive to put it back up there. Just resticking it never lasts long. Any place that repairs automotive windshields can stick it back into place for you. It's usually pretty cheap.
If it's falling out of alignment due to vibrations then I don't know where to go with that. Maybe make a contraption out of a wire coat hanger to make it more stable?

Yeah sorry about the confusion in my original post. The mirror isnt falling off, its just falling out of alignment. Ive tried rigging it the best way i can but it keeps doing the same thing. The problem I believe honestly lies in the pivot ball, and there are no screws that I can see. My mirror should not be doing this, as my stereo meerly sounds like a nice strong factory system, and is not an earth shaking setup. Im considering just ordering a new mirror, if what sunrunner says is true....

If it is a ball & socket, then just put a piece of cardboard in the socket part. It will act as a stopper to tighten the sliding.
You only need a very small piece of paper or cardboard to achieve the goal.

i know how fix it. you may think its a joke, but im serious. i've had to do it before. turn your stereo up and find the place its pivoting. turn the stereo off and fix the mirror to where you want it, and then take some super glue and put some on it. it'll hold it. your mirror shouldn't be vibrating out of place. the 18" i've got in my girlfriends trunk shakes the piss out of all her mirrors, but when you turn the stereo down they're in the same place and don't need any adjustments. it even moves the black mirror housings on the outside of the car about a 1/4 to 1/2 in. but i also used to have 2-15s in a cutlass and i rattled the outside mirrors so bad that the wind from going down the road would make them point toward the road, even with the stereo off.
