Hi there i was wondering if anyone can help.
I have a 99 2dr Grand Am SE which for the last few months has been causing no end of problems.

There are two main ones which my mechanic isn't sure on and my local dealership doesn't seem to know either.

The first is a massive vibration when getting above 60 - 65. Most noticeable on the stearing wheel but felt in the whole car. In the last 2 months it has been aligned 3 times and had the high speed balencing done twice. The alignment is spot on so i figure it is the high speed balencing but that too is apparently spot on, any ideas??

The second problem is more of an annoyence. When ever you get in the car for the first time there is a buzzing noise coming from around the drivers side floor pan (towards the seat not pedals) It spots as soon as the ignition is turned but dosen't sound too good. I thought it was the electric motor in the seat but i can't see why that would make any noise with the controls being touched.

Also after reading the forums i have alot of famillier problems notably windows, mine jumped off its tracks and cracked where it connects to the frame (frame basically snapped) not a cheap repair.
If anyone has any answers or ideas i would be very grateful

I had a smililar balance problem with my '99 SE2. There was a TSB issued a while back about defective rims. My problem turned out to be a combination of bad rims and defective Goodyear Eagle LS tires. I had all 4 tires replaced under warranty and my problem was solved. Like you my car was aligned several times, and the tires were balanced MANY times, at 4 different shops. Each time they balanced the tires, but my vibration never went away. Replacing the tires fixed it for me.

While you're at it though, have them check all suspension bushings, tir rod ends, etc.

The vibration is definatly from the front of the car and the wheels have been rotated (Front to Back) and it still vibrates just as bad. I have the optional alloy wheels but have never changed the tires since i have had it (1 year plenty of tread) is there a way of checking the tires??.
I am ready to give up on this car which is ashame as it is a nice car. its been acting up since jan with various problems (Windows Rotors and my front right brake caliper snapping off on the interstate and wedging itself onto the wheel on the off ramp.

WOW, You have had some real problems!! If your confident the tires and rims are in good shape and the alignmet is good. It is time to look at your suspension. However; normally when there is a suspension problem, you can't get it align right. But honestly, I can't think of anything else.
