I'm looking into putting LED lights into vents and what have you but I'm not sure how to go about doing this. If someone could give me some advice or a step by step guide would be awesome.
Thanks

if youhave an auto zone near you then go there and buy some LEDs. they come in a pack of 3, in colors like red, blue, green, ??? and they have the resistor already in them for 12 volt use. the wires are heat shrinked already, so just drill holes in your duct, silicone them in, and wire them up to a switch. im doing this someday. :D

i did it and its very easy. just remove the radio and stuff when doing the center vents. it will give you more room to work with.

just make sure you put a resistor in the line.

I'm brain dead when it coems to electronics, what kind of resistor?
Say if I walked into radio shack what exactally would I be asking for?

The numbers are everywhere on the web. I started playing around with them and made a Pontiac Emblem dome light which was pretty cool and bright. Its not hard to do, a lot better if you can solder.

the ones from auto zone already ahve the resistor inline, so you dont have to rely on the morons at radio shack. these also are the high intensity LEDs, the ones found in stop lights. trust me, they mnake for a clean install. even if you can solder, itll be way messier than just using these.

Cleaner: Maybe, if your lazy and don't take the time to do quality work on your own. But I bought enough stuff to make about 100 LEDs, for what you would pay for 1 LED at Autozone. It all depends on what you like to do.

Same here
I got 200 super bright blue and white led's for 25 bucks with free resistors.
10 minutes of clean soldering, I must say, and i got led's coming out my ears for less than 2 led's from a store
to each his own i guess

Where can I do this?
And are they pretty bright? I can think off some good places to put them if they are bright enough.

got mine off ebay search for 5mm LED's and a bunch should come up, the higher the mcd the brighter.. And you don't really need resistors if you wire four bulbs together (in series) then they can handle the 12v charge considering most leds only can carry a 3.5v charge.. Here's a pic of underbodys i made from these led's...

If you need a step by step guide to wiring an LED, give me a PM or email (aaron@senisub.com), I gave this guy step by step directions via email and I can forward them to you or post them here. Don't buy them from radioshack, but if you have to the reisistor I use for working at 12 volt is a 470 ohm resistor. They will charge you way too much, ebay is the best place to get a lot of LED's.

I am buying a set of 20 blue 2000MCD 5mm LEDs for 10 bucks shipped. These come with the leds and resistors.
