When I bought my car I asked for a car fax report. I found some amusing things I wont disscuss right now. Anyway on the part were it tells you who the owners were, it seems like the owner was once a service shop! It goes from:

39,401 Auto Dealership----Vehicle offered for sale

39,456 Service plan Co.---Service Contract Issued

(No miles reported) New owner reported

42,945 Service Plan Co. Service Contract Claim...Engine Serviced!

Then it goes on sale again

I don't understand this. Do you think my car had the coolant problem and had the engine worked on because of it? Is there anyway to tell if I have some new engine of intake parts that arne't stock? I am REALLY hoping it had this problem so it wont happen to me!!!!!!!! heh Someone help me out!!

Well I'm in contact with carfax right now with email. They are telling me that the last owner of the car bought an extened warenty with the car. I didn't know that shows up on a history report. Also it is looking like it had some engine work done to it. ALTHOUGH it says it had the engine work done at 42,000 miles. Isn't this to early? This is great news if it is true. Would anyone PLEASE tell me if I can tell the difference in the stock and rebuilt parts they replace in the lower intake manifold gasket problem?

Engine serviced could mean anything. Oil pump, timing chain, cracked manifold......anything.

No, I doubt if you could look at the gasket and tell if it was replaced or not. You best bet is to try to get in touch with the previous owner.

If you have a buddy who works at a GM dealer, or know someone else who does, you might also have them look up your VIN in their service database... it will show all repairs done at a GM dealer.

I really wish I could get in touch with the guy. But car fax is VERY hush hush about any personal info. They wont even tell me were the engine was worked on! Oh well.
