I realy dont like the stock antenia on my 95 and I was wondering if anyone here has replaced theirs or knows if it would be easy or not. I have seen a few "fake" antenias that look prety nice but they are fake, what is your thought on the matter.

Are you talking about this kind or something that looks like this? They are easy to install twist off twist on
http://www.gaownersclub.com/forum/attachment.php?s=&postid=26846
They are real, they are not fake and works just as good as the OEM one. They only cost about $10 or less at a part store. As soon as I get some play money I going to get a power antenna.

I didnt mean my antena was fake, I ment I saw some cool looking ones that were fake in a magazine a while back. the stock one that I have is just realy ugly, and I noticed the threading on it and is it universal threading? like it will fit everything? do you know of any brands that might look nice?
please excuse me if I sound stupid, I am just not as informed on this subject as you are.

I agree with going to power antennas. They look nicer and more expensive.

who instaled it, the power antenia that is?
how much did it cost including instalation?
are you happy with how it turned out?
if you cold go back would you do something diffrent?
is it what you were expecting?
does it get any attention?
what brand is it?
where did you get it?
hopefully I am not bothering you with the obese ammount of questions.

No worries, that is what we are here for :) OK, as far as the questions go ...
#1 ~ I installed it myself :) There are only three wires to connect ... a ground, a 12V remote power from HU and a 12V constant power :)
http://www.n-body.net/registry/99grandamse/99grandamse_12.jpg
#2 ~ only cost was antenna itself.
#3 ~ COMPLETELY happy!!!
#4 ~ nope, like the look :D
#5 ~ the antenna ended up looking as I had planned with the exception that AM doesn't seem to work, other than that, I love it :)
#6 ~ actually, the only time it gets noticed is when it is down and they wonder wear it went :)
#7 ~ mine is made by Metra (there are many manufactures but I wanted mine to be black like the factory one and the only version I could fine was this one).
#8 ~ since it is made by Metra ( http://www.metraonline.com ) and they are a 'popular' stereo accessory company, I would suspect almost any stereo shop should be able to get it for you.
If you need anything else, let me know ;)

I was looking around the internet and I found a few that I like and they are all retractable so when the radio is off they sink back down, but then I relized the power button on my radio is broken so it wont do anything for me now will it. The radio is always on and when I want to turn it off I hit the mute button. I feel so stupid right now.

I've got a 96 and the antena is the easist of mods. Get a wrench that will fit around the nut part of it and twist, tada it's off.
I have a CB Radio antenna for mine and it works perfectly, even better then the stock.
Just pick out one that you like and make sure it's a female connecter (it just twists right on)

He is saying make sure the radio is off so the antenna goes down. High power car wash and power antenna don't go together. The antenna can get bent.

Not saying it won't happen of coruse, but, my power antenna has a larger diameter than the stock one ... consequently, it is more sturdy believe it or not :D

I love mine...I got it from the AEDCentral Store (http://aed4.homeip.net/cgi-bin/store/store.cgi?&shop=city&cart=1385498x544&session=3f4aa1dc022047dd&L=eng&P=5100) .......they have them in 3 sizes (6, 9 & 12") and you can get them with powder coated flames. (I opted for the 9" black one) I haven't noticed any difference in reception and it looks great!

Speaking of replacing the antenna, do any of have the CustomGrandAm.com aluminum antenna? And if so, is it worth the $28??
