I might be taking off the side moldings on my 97(doesn't look like the newer ones that have the same look as the Alero) And there will be holes from where the screws hold the brackets that hold the moldings on.What kind of body fill or something that would be put in the holes? I could go to a body shop and lay down some money for the holes to be welded then painted but don't have the money so i want to go this route.

i did a quick fix...

i took off my sides GT and there is a hole on each side right behind the front wheel well... i just bout a potiac sticker (red) and put it over the hole.. you cant even see it cuz the color matches nicely.. but it was only one hole..

is it a round overlay thing from GrafxWerks? I know another Grand Am with the AED kit had some covering the holes on his, mines got more then a couple holes though, each door has two holes then one up by the fender.

there is this filler that is not bondo but better

it has a picture of a black cat.. it is real good for filling in.. if you got any shops that sell paint, bondo, etc.. tell them if they have a body filler that has a picture of this black cat...

its good stuff and stiffer than bondo.

I'd just get a decal if I were you. But apply a little paint around the inside of the hole. Plastic filler will eventually let go when put over a hole.
You could fiberglass or epoxy over it, given it's a small hole But you'd have to get some on the backside also to seal out moisture/ if not that too will let go. You'll also have to countersink the metal around the hole on the frontside to be able to level out the filling material. It's no easy task for anyone w/out body equipment, especially an air compressor. That's why I think a small decal would be so much easier for you. Hell, If I found the right decal even I would go that route!

It is called leading. Lead like the metal not lead like follow the leader. It is extremely hard to do yourself and costs about twice as much as plastic or glass filler at a body shop (labor cost).

Yea i think im leaning that rout,as long as the deal matches my paint good enough,i just don't like the look when things don't match just right. But i need to get some touch up paint anyways.

I have the same year and all as your car and mine has those holes plus a bunch of little pegs that hold the side ribs on aswell so don't forget about taking them off aswell.

yea those things are held on by screwes as well,2 on each door,1 by each fender and one on each by the rear wheel.
