Did you have any trouble finding a decent motor?
I have been looking around for a while and cant find crap. My motor has 177,000 miles on it and I want to be ready when it decides to kick the bucket.

heh heh heh... after much wireing..........the engine is running. the cluch cable and ass crap go in today. just need a hole saw for the cluch housing so it can sit in the fire wall. after that get the car on the street and rev the motor to 4000 rpm and dump the cluch:P

no troubles. i found a cutlass with some minor front end damage. so i was pritty sure it was in there because the car was a wright off and not because the engine was crap. but none the less when i got the engine i pulled it apart. honed the cils and installed new oil rings as well as new gaskets from the bottom up.
when i turned the engine over for the first time yesterday, it fired up right away and purred like a kitten. even though i still have not installed the knock sensor or can not find a mass air flow sensor for the intake. but soon enoughf

tomorrow i want a list of everything i will need and what to do to make mine. if i think i want to do this you may have just convinced me to keep my car.

What do you need a list of GAguy?

92CamaroRS

a list of parts needed and what would need to be done. and aprox. cost would be nice. if i think its worth doing you might have talked me into keeping my car.

to start you need a 5 speed. better to go with a muncie 5 speed.
you will also need to get a fly wheel. custom made as i cound not find 1 that would fit. what that will cost I dont know as i didint have to pay for mine. ( helps to have metal worker friends) you will also need a shifter, cover , cluch pedle and both left and right axels. if you have A.B.S in your car you will need axels with teeth or your A.B.S will not work. unfort there is no wire harness avail for this project. Also you will need to custome fab a trans mount as i could also not find 1 to work. i think for the trans side of it in total i got all my parts from the junk yard and i paid about $160 cdn. plus $60 for a new cluch. now as i have not compleated my project i will not feel good asking you to do this job as I do not know the out come and would not suggest you to wreak your car. but all in good time ;)

if you could get me a pic of the trans mount you had to make. and if you could tell me what car you got the tranny and bell housing from then i might start to tear into it sometime soon.

the trans mount ended up being a crude slab of steel from the old mount to the frame of the car. the trans i got was from a 89 sunbird 2.2. Heh heh heh lets see how a 4 cil trans stands up to a V6

would one off of a 2.3ho work or not?

well you could start with a motor from the junk yard open it up and see what youll need to fix it up. It could be as simple as a set of head gaskets, intake manifold gasket, and etc. or it could need some pistons, rings, lifters etc. or you could take the motor you have and rebuild it. The best thing to do is to strip the motor down to the bare block (label everything and take pictures!) take bore measurements and determine whether you need to hone your cylinders. Check the crankshaft for wear and replace if necessary. Check your main bearings and check the oil clearances. Look at the condition of your cam and determine whether it needs to be replaced. have the heads cleaned and have a machine shop do a valve job. Basically it depends how much $ you have. You can replace the motor with a decent one or you can build your current one and spend a few g's.

Then be more specific, what is it you need a list of? The part numbers and items or what? I didnt intend to imply you didnt know anything I just assume, you know what they say when you assume you make an ass out of you and me. So your a ford man huh? I just did an intake manifold gasket on my e-150 van and lots of coffee a few beers and several curse words later I got it done. Then I promised my self not to buy another van.

Thats cool, I know a lot of people who love mustangs and they just live for their 302's and flowmaster exhausts. I like lots of different cars but these are pretty easy to work on so I bought one. How many miles did you get on your motor?
