Plans for next year?

Well I figured I would throw this up now being halfway into the meet. Who of you all are up for another meet next year? :D

I only say lets start planning asap even .....no definite plans to be made right away but figured I'd get the idea out there, although we have to plan it for early July for some of us who can't get the time off thsi time of year :lol:

If it get's planned early enough in the summer, I am definitely going to make the journy from Edmonton to the meet ;)

Hope you are all having a good time out there, can't wait to see more pics.

the only problem with that, is www.grandamgt.com has their annual Grand Am Picnic in Michigan at the end of July...may be a little tough for ppl to make it to both. That, and ppl may go on vacation for 4th of july and not be able to get the time off.

I think with a little more planning, and a little more time to get things together next year could be even better. This year it just was kind of thrown together in a short period of time. I think we need to start planning now, and make reservations.

I think Canada would be cool to have it in. But the only thing is the stupid border. God knows how long it would take everyone to get threw. Seattle would be nice but like they said there are a lot of people in ny and some people already have tons of miles on their cars. Why not Mass or NJ or even ohio? It would be nice if it was in NY just cause we live here. How about in NY but in Lake george? Its not as busy as albany and still not far from it.

As far as border crossing goes I don't think you'd have any problem. Most of the traffic is opposite (more people from Canada go to the U.S. for the weekend than Americans coming to Canada).

Plus you guys would benefit from the exchange rate...

As much as I like Lake George (I was just there a few hours ago) I think it would be harder to do it there. We had a small one there last year but it was only 4 cars. Moving 20+ cars though a resort village driving 20mph and stopping when people cross in front of you and everything won't be easy. Then we'd need a decent location, etc. That is why I chose Thacther Park, it's not that hard to get to, not alot of traffic to cut into the caravan, and it's still a decent location.

I agree with you John. I don't see how the group that was there this year would have been able to even meet up in Lake George. It wasn't too bad for the four of us last year, but that was just four cars too. I think you guys did a fantastic job! I would say again with the thatcher park. There was more than enough room for all of us, and should be plenty of space for more.

hey I am all for albany, I just want you guys to think next year there are going to be a lot more cars. And to me it seemed we had a lot of trouble just getting out of parking lots. I only suggested Lake George cause I am used to car shows up here. If we need we could maybe get police escorts. Plus people who don't want to stay in a hotel there are plenty of campgrounds. And I know someone said something about where we would have the picnic. Well there are plenty of places to have the picnic up here where there is plenty of parking.
But hey thats my suggestion. And also Chris and I are willing to help in any way we can to plan this for next year. So if you need any help just let us know

and as for having the meet at lake george, i do think that it would be hard for us to get through the strip, but not any place else. i have found a way around all that stuff. i actually might even be able to get us a few more sponsors. dont get me wrong, im not trying to push for a meet here, but im just throwing out some options. even if its back in albany again. john, im actually from that area so if next year u need someone else to help herd the sheep i can help. luckily i was there to save the day this year LOL:P but i would like to be on the planning committee (if there even is one)

Chris, trust me my first thoughts for this past meet was Lake George. But after considering the distance from the Lake to the track, cost of hotel/motels, etc I figured it would be easier for them to stay around Albany. And since everyone seemed to enjoy Thatcher Park and alot of know what to expect and where to go now it might be nice to keep it there. But we have a few months to iron out details. :)

As herding the sheep we could always use a extra hand.
Most of the planning was done with ClubECM with suggestions from the two GAOC head honchos. But if you are interested in helping I can keep you in touch via email or PMs. Also if you wish I can let you know when we have our ClubECM meeting(s) and you can join us in throwing out ideas and help with the planning.
