no oil pressure at idle !!!!

i think i have a big problem !!! i have no oil pressure at idle !! it just started today, while i was driving i stopped at a light an the check gauges light was blinking an there the oil gauge was all the way down !!! but when i start going it goes up a lil ??????? does anyone know what the problem might be ??? i checked the oil an it was fine , so i have no idea ??????? :???:

sounds like it could be the oil sending unit or pressure sensor to me.. I had a cavilier that did the same thing and my ga did it once too. Check into getting it replaced. They weren't too expensive either.

NOW TODAY THE PRESSURE IS BACK UP, BUT NOT AS HIGH AS USUALL. SO I HAVE NO IDEA ???

DO YOU THINK ITTL BE OK TO DRIVE FOR A LIL BIT ????

HOW MUCH DO YOU THINK IT WILL BE TO REPLACE ???? CAN I DO IT MYSELF ???????

yeah you should be able to drive the car as long as the oil is full and you don't hear any kind of noises from the engine it should be just fine... as for the sensors it is fairly easy to replace them and just one other thing i thought of is that you might have some loose wires or connections

they are fairly cheap too.. check out autozone.com and you can get a price for them

also where would i check for lose conections ???? also what did your grand am do when this happoned ????? an i just wanted to say i love it when people fix up older grand am's !! i have a 89 an it has no rust, original paint, an it looks nice !! i have recently put a new fat exhaust on it an chopped the air cleaner so its wide open all the way around, new 91' se checkored tail lights, white interior work, so i wanna keep this car as long as i can !!!!!!!!!!

p.s. so what should i do about my car ???? have a mechanic look at it ??? or just keep riddin in it ???? thankx bro !!

also it's not makin any noises from the engin so i have no idea ?????

as for the loose connections just check around the sensors where the wires are connected to them. and if you would feel safer just stop at a local garage and have someone check it out for a second opinion .. My car didn't do anything when the gauge acted up ... it ran like it was brand new . I don't have that cluster in my car anymore because i sold it to someone that wanted to pay me top dollar for it and trade his regular cluster too
the cluster my car came with was the tach,speedo,volts,oil pressure,fuel, and the temp
i actually kinda miss that cluster. but oh well

all in all man its not a hard prob to fix so good luck with the ga and it sounds like a really nice ride so keep it up

what exactly did your gauge do when this happoned ???? my oil gauge goes up when the car hasent been started all day, but once the car is warmed up it drops all the way down an the check gauges light comes on( at stops), but when i start going it goes up a lil an the light stops blinking ????? my car runs no different an makes no noises, so is this exactly what yours did ????


p.s i also have the tach on my cluster !!

hey man i cant believe thats your car !!!i have looked at your car sooo many times , i have also showed a bunch of my friends an they loved it !!! your car looks soo tight with that spoiler. your car inspired me to make some changes on mine, i also have the same tail lights ( cleared out) an i also cleared my corners!
i did a bunch of white custom paint inside the car. i wish we lived closer so when could roll around togther, an show all these lil ricer boys whats up.

ok so what do you think p8ntman422 ?? what do you think is up with my oil pressure ??? when ever i run the car for a lil bit the oil pressure gauge says it has no pressure, expecially at stops, but when i start goin it goes up a lil bit ??? what do you think it is ???

ok im gonna talk slow here so you can follow, as we have told you many times already what the problem is both over aim and on these baords. It Is your OIL PRESSURE SENDING UNIT please go buy a new one for 13 bucks and replace the old one and dont post this problem multiple times or hijack other threads with this topic.
