Hi guys, I just have a couple of audio questions about my '99 Grand AM. First, does anyone know of a guide or anything like that for adjusting the equalizer settings? I kind of just set them randomly and it sounds ok, but was wondering if I could do better. Second, I'm very annoyed by all the vibrations my speakers make when playing low toned sounds or notes. There's this one song where the whole ending is just like a guitar note held until it fades out and my speakers vibrate pretty badly the whole time. The volume is barely turned up. Will new speakers help this problem or is it the fault of crappy manufacturing of the car? Thanks a lot!

... you set the EQ where is sounds good to you, in other words, what sounds great to me might sound terrible to you ... in regards to the quality, GM/DELCO do a fairly decent job for 'factory stuff' but if you truely want GOOD sound at various different frequencies you will have to go aftermarket :)

Heres a hint.. turn on you stereo.. go back into your trunk or whever your EQ is and turn on the type of music you listen to most. Then just slowly play with your EQ till you get the kind of sound you want. You, like me, may have to play the with EQ again if you want to go into competitions and want deeper hitting notes.. Punk plays a lot differently than Bass comp CD's

From the looks of the post, he's talking about the factor EQ thats on the headunit, not something that needs to be adjusted in the trunk of the vehicle........
Generally EQ's are set up with the lower frequencies on the left, and work toward the right to the higher frequencies. If your speakers are crapping out on the bass notes, move the sliders down on your EQ on the left side and slowly increase them untill the distortion of the bass starts up. If this dosen't help your problem, then you might have done some damage to your speakers and they need replacing.
Play around with it see what you come with...

The eq on my car is bass all the way the second one is set in the middle and the last one is all the way up. Sound good to me for any music.
