hi,
i just sold my stock cd player (out of a '01 GA SE1 v6), and the person i sold it to is having problems 'unlocking' it. i wasn't aware that it was even locked, as i've disconnected it from my car numerous times, without having to enter a code. i sent him the directions posted at http://www.gaownersclub.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=109 , but he said nothing happens when he held down the buttons, and that it just displays the clock and reads LOCKED. any help on how to unlock it? any help will be very appreciated.

thanks,
eric

anyone know if this year/model cd player is the type that only works on the original vehicle, by scanning the vin#?

I have an '02 GA SE1 V6 that I bought salvaged. The original stereo was broken so a factory stereo from a different car was installed. It was locked when I bought the car. I took it to the dealer, who gave all sorts of problems because the stereo didn't match the VIN number, but I was eventaully able to have it unlocked.

So now I am in process of installing an after market HU, and I unplugged the factory HU for a while as I tinkered around. It blinked while it was unplugged and then plugged in just fine without locking up.

My guess, it has a lockout timer running on an internal battery. The timer probably ran out for your customer. Possibly, with the VIN# for YOUR car, or an impressive bribe, your customer could be able to get the dealership to unlock their new paper weight.
