What makes a new catback better? I know that if you get bigger piping, then you get more air flow. But if i got a new catback, i'd probably get 2.25 in piping. Is that what the stock piping is? Also if i got a new catback, i probably would run without a resonator. Is that legal? Also would a new catback make the car sound better than just a new muffler. By the way, i'm looking at a magnaflow street series.

Since you have the se you should get a catback for the bigger piping.

Sounds like what i just got put on last week.

Went with a Magnaflow mirror style muffler, a 4 inch resonator, and custom 2 1/4 piping. Makes a good difference on the freeway w/o losing much low end at all.

I got charged 150 for the install of everything which included new piping. I've heard some people get it done cheaper, but it was the best price i could find around here.

So i paid around 140 for the muffler, 50 for the resonator and 150 for piping and labor.

340 dollars is not bad for a cat back system.;)

:thumbup2: So you got it on!! How do you like the way it sounds? If you like it now, just wait until it get's burned in....it'll get even better!! You need to get a pic of it up.

Another mod i have to thank you for the advice...lol;)

Ya, it sounds great. Sounds like a V8 now, but not too loud as sound wasn't was i was going for. I was more concerned about about performance, and it seemed to do the job just fine.

But i have to admit, i love the sound right when i crank the engine up.

I just got my spoiler in, so i plan on taking some pics as soon as i put that on.

Now i just have to figure out what's next. I've only had this car a couple months, but i'm making good progress.:D

A catback might be neccessary if you can't get a manufactured performance system for your car. If there is a pre-made kit, then the cat-back may not be better. Frequently it is, by the nature of the pipe sizes you can choose, the bending, and the muffler(s).

I don't know where you live and how they enforce noise laws, but you are probably OK removing the resonator. It will aid flow, and shouldn't add that much noise. I removed my resonator when I had my custom cat-back installed. If you go custom, you can always add the resonator back in if the set-up you choose is a little too loud. :)
