I am looking into getting performance parts for my 3100. Low end parts like camshaft, pistons, connecting rods, etc. So my question is what would be better to do buy a used engine from a junk yard and rebuild it then swap it in, or Mantapart (http://www.mantapart.com) (GO to chassis then misc. section.) has a prebuilt performance engine with 200+ HP buy that then swap it in. I want to minimize downtime on my car so thats why i'm not using my engine i have right now. Also i am not a master mechanic. I can do tune ups, replace radiators, easy stuff ya know, so i am hesitant about rebuilding an engine you see.

i wouldnt recommend you try to build your own engine though. completely building an engine can be very tricky. you have to have all your spacing right or things can get bad. or id take it to have the pistons and bottom end put together. then you could probably install the heads and intake and stuff like that.

Why not find a 3100 out of a monte Carlo like i did :D stock i think its 168hp that with a MAF we dont have one so its 5 hp more. Put some 3400 intakes on and your up to 170-180hp open exhaust up 8-10hp. Its easy to get hp with our year grandams i think.

Or why not get a 3400 to being with? It's the same block, it'll fit just the same. You'll just need a little PCM work...well, maybe not a little, but it'd be worth looking into.
