ok, i just got my 6 1/2" speakers that i'm planning on putting in the front doors. But i'm a wussy, and don't wanna screw up the wiring in the door or whatever else there is to screw up electronically or anything else screwable period.

first off, how in the heck do the door panels come off? i looked for screws, but couldn't find any. is there a latch or something that i need to release? please help explain (step by step if possible) how to get that dang front door panel off without screwing anything up. once i've got it off, i should be ok with the rest.

is there anything i need to be careful of during this process. once again, i don't wanna screw up my car. i'm sure you know what i mean. i'm also guessing getting the speaker out is fairly easy (and not nearly as complicated as the rear speakers, which i've already replaced), as well as the piece it sits on (so that i could use it to make the plexiglass platter that my 6 1/2's could sit on). if not, please let me know of anything i should be aware of.

thanks again guys, take care.

I'm not sure if the 96-98s are very different, the hardest screw to find was a huge one going thru part of the armrest at an angle. Try this: http://www.gaownersclub.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=6937 or do some searches of your own...

2 screws in the grab handle of the door, pull that panel peice out, and disconnect any plugs (doorlock switch, mirror switch and window switches) then pull out the peice behind the door handle and lock lever. Pull out the red reflector, screw behind it. CAREFULLY pull of the sail panel, it's really easy to break the tabs off. If you have power mirrors then you can just unplug that harness and be done with it, if you have manual mirrors then have fun getting that little peice out without breaking it (only a couple bucks to replace from the dealership though). Start at the bottom of the door panel and pull outwards releasing all the clips going up both sides. Now for the tricky part. You have to push in at the top of the door panel while pulling up on it to release the tabs that hold it in at the top.
