Ok with your stock system, the air is sucked in, and the dirt that is filtered by the air filter drops to the bottom of the stock airbox.
Now, with Cold air intake that goes down to fenderwall, where does all the dirt go that is filtered by the cone filter?

drops down man.. When its in the fender well you have to take off the bottom plasitic around your front tire. Basically all the dirt just falls down into this.

It just collects at the bottom of your fenderwell. Its really not a big deal. I went in there for the first time when I installed one of my intakes since the car was new, which is now 4 yrs ago. Not a whole lot of dirt was in there, but there was some.
Basically you have nothing to worry about with the CAI being in there. A good filter will not allow anything to get by except air, and I use K&N Filters....the best available.

I hear that red.. and thx again for the CAI man.. sounds sweet as hell. One thing i notice also.. when I hit the gas semi hard, it makes like.. a whistle sound and I love it. Basically I think one of my clamps arnt as tight as they could be. I love the sound the engine gives off and damn do I notice the power difference at the higher rpms.

I also recently got a CAI from Red99GAGT and it's sweeeeet!!!! I love the way it sounds and the install was VERY easy!!! It says on the site that you need to move the battery tray slightly but I didn't. Thanks again Keith for the kick @ZZ intake :thumbup2:

That whistle you hear is the sound of free flowing air. They all make that whistle noise. Its a goooooooooood sound! :D
Thanks for the compliments guys. Glad your happy with them. When it gets closer to winter I will be selling some K&N Filter covers, basically it will shield out more dirt and water. It will add some restriction, but its protection you'll need during the winter.

cool. Ill have to buy one of those filter covers. Up here in canada we get a ton of snow and im gonna need the protection. And God do I love that whistle. I only wish the install was as easy as lightning said.. I have never done any kind of performance mod install by myself and the stupid thing took 6 hours to install anmost all due to taking off the wheel well cover.. damn there are a ton of nuts and clips to take off. But hey.. if a dumbass like me can install keith's CAI, anyone.. and I mean ANYONE can install one. and thx again for the instructions Keith.

I'll try to get my hands on a digi cam that records video (with sound obviously). It won't get the "whistle" noise because there needs to be some resistance on the motor for that sound to occur for some reason. But revving it sounds soo cool.
Will it make that whisle sound on mine if I get a Cold Air Intake? I'm guessing that's what a CAI means.

So how often do you all replace or clean the cone filter?

Since I use K&N Filters, you never have to replace them as long as they are cleaned a couple times a year. For me, once in the spring, and again in the fall should be enough. K&N filters come with a 1,000,000 mile warrenty.

the cai on my truck kind of makes a whistle sounds when i hit the gas and the truck is sitting still. no, its not as distinct as when im driving, but you can definitely tell that its not a stock sound.

If I could get my hands on a '97 or any other year V6 GA (for now) I would definately rig something up. I'm dying here because I know there is a huge market out there for you guys, but I don't know anyone with a pre-99 V6 GA. Believe me, I want to help you guys out.
