Hey guys and gals, :wave2:
I had posted in the Engine Specific section a few days ago about a new exhaust on my 96 3.1 GA SE and I think I've decided on the Flowmaster Delta Flow 40 Series Muffler.
But I'm not sure what size now, 2.25 ?
and whether the inlets and outlets are offset or centered?
It would be sweet to install dual exhaust on my SE but with my bumper it might look silly, nor do I know what all I would have to change, or if the performance gains are even worth it... :roll2:
I'm kinda on a $200 budget for this project as well...
Any input on the Muffler I'd need?

if you're wanting duals you'd almost have to go with a crossflow (the kind that goes on a camaro). my uncle owns a garage and hes a flowmaster dealer. i put my girlfriends se on the rack and there is almost no practical way to put duals on a se with a regular muffler. he quoted me a price of $210 by the time i paid for a crossflow muffler, aluminum pipe, chrome quad tips, and installation, and that was at cost. i got a free 2 chamber flowmaster that is on her car right now. all i had him do was take the factory exhaust off, and put the flowmaster in its place with a turn down. in other words my girlfriends ga dont have a visible exhaust pipe. it kind of makes the back end look cleaner. the muffler is visible when you step back about 50 ft., you still cant see very much of it sticking down.

Yeah, not bad.. I'm thinking I'm just going to replace my muffler with the flowmaster but I don't know what size inlet pipes I need on it.. 2.25?
And i'm not sure if they're centered of whatnot.. does anyone know? :(

whoops. i think its 2.25. some have centered inlet/outlet, some have offset inlet/outlet, some have centered inlet/offset outlet, and you get the picture. it just depends on how you want it. the one on my girlfriends car is offset inlet/outlet

The cross flow only works on the 99+ Ga's. We need to get two mufflers. I think they tell you what offsets you need on the flowmaster site. Stock piping is 2", but if you're putting on larger piping most people either go with 2.25 or 2.5. I would also like to do dual flowmasters on my se and I have the same problem with the one cut out on my year.

how come the crossflow wont work on pre-99? i assumed. there is hardly no room on the underbody of the 99+.

I think it has to do with the shape/size of the trunk well. If a crossflow muffler could fit under a pre 99 I'm sure alot of people would have gone that route insted of getting two mufflers.
