hehe, i'm biased, but i think the type r's (with a good amp) slam harder than the comp VR's... i love alpine's stuff, and i'll most likely always stay by them... but, i dunno about that amp... acoustick is something i've never dealt with, so i'm not the person to ask about that... maybe Dave would be better with the amp question than me :D

the alpines would probably be a little better than the kickers. im not downing kicker by any means, i have kicker subs in my truck and my girlfriends ga. but i've known of people to absolutely punish type r's, and they keep on ticking. alot like a timex.:D i would continue the search for a amp, acoustick pretty well sucks

The alpines are a tuff sub, but personnaly I never liked the hollow sound they make. Find a pair and listen very carefully before you buy a set. Personal opinion. As far a kicker goes they make a good sub but there is better out there. The amp is acually a good product. They pretty much make the power they advertise and nothing more but if treated good they are almost bullet proof. Basically don't run them lower then 2ohms stereo or 4ohms mono and it will last forever. The shop I work at sells that brand and we have sold well over 200 of them and only three have ever come back and all three have been ran at to low of a load which will kill any amp. With that all said and done I will tell you what I tell everyone and that is to buy only from a local shop. for one it supports the community and two its a lot easier to get your warrenty taken care of. In fact some companies won't warrenty product sold over the internet. Make sure you do your homework, tehn buy. Peace, Lee
