I'm not sure how different your body style is, but for 92-95 you have to take the back seat out, rear quarters and then you can get the deck cover off. There are a ton of posts on it, but maybe '90 is a little different?

Two bolts under the lip of the bottom cusion need to come out. then two bolts that hold in the rear cusion come out. then take off the third brake light by two screws in the side I think then carfully bend the rear deck in the middle, don't worry it shouldn't break and pull out one side then the other and there you have it. That is to the bext of my memory. Lee

So it sounds the same as the 92-95. Bending it may work, but I think it may be safer to just take the rear quater panels off if that will allow you to get the deck cover off without bending it. JMO... Some links, sounds like the only difference is we don't have the 3rd brake light involved the way you do.

My boss says I shouldn't bend them either but I have yet to break one and he never gets the side panels on quite right. Its made out of a real weird peice of wood that is acually pretty strong and even if it broke I don't think you could tell when you put it back on just by the way it is carpeted and stuff. But what ever works for you. Peace out, Lee
