Someone Please Help Me! Temp Problem< Look!

my new car (95 grand am se) is over heating, heres the story, i was out driving around today, and the hand went up and went into the red, ne way, i started to go faster and it went back down, tonight i get in my car and go driving and its actin the same way, it got so hot that the light came on and the hand was in the red, so i pulled over, the car was still blowing hot air, and the fan was after kickin in and stayed goin when i stoped, so i start it back up and the temp is after goin outta the red, so i drove home, and it done it agian, at my house i poped the hood and touched the motor, it wasnt hot, just warm, and my coolent bottle had what looked like coolent on it, it looked like it was after commin out inunder the cap, guys i'm really stumped and pissed, do u think its the thermostat? please guys help!

First thought is the water pump is failing. It could also be the t-stat, it might not be fully opening so the water can't flow free.

FIGURE out what it is before you drive it more. When Quads get Hot, they like to blow Head gaskets and or crack heads. No really they like to......... great motor if you can keep it cold, but get it too hot and they rebail on you.

Look for water on the ground just behind the passanger side front tire.

You didn't say any thing about a funny smell, so I dought its the Heater Core.
