Hey everybody, this is my first post. I have owned a Grand am for around 6 months. I just decided to put a system in it, and ran into a problem. When I turn the sound up there is a rattle between the panel that covers the 6x9's and the window. If I put something heavy on top of it it will go away, but I would really ike ot fix the problem. Does anyone know how to remove the piece from above the seats? I have tried everything, and I cant seem ti figure out how that piece comes out, if I could get that out I could soundproof it and not have to worry about it anymore. Thanks to anyone who can help me.

check out "how do I install my 6x9's" on this page. I fought with this same problem in a honda accord once. I finally ended up drilling four holes in the rear deck and screwing it down. I used screw caps so it didn't look stupid though. It worked great and didn't look half bad. Just an idea. Peace Lee

I did the same thing, though I went the redneck route and just painted the screw heads black... works great.
I had that rattle too. but I was just too lazy to post a topic about it. So just drill 4 holes and put screws in em?

What I did was cut 2 holes in the deck lid and put in ports form a speaker box with grill mesh over them. It gives a place for the air to go and looks cool to. Or you could be real clever and do that but run the ports from your box up thru the deck lid. Never seem it done but sounds cool.

I used foam and tightened it down with screws. Too bad you can see the foam though, I should try the weather stripping.

I dynamatted the rear deck. No more rattle from the deck. Now it moved on to the interior rear side panels.:P

mine did the same thing on my 97ga, when i put pressure on the rear deck lid it was all good, so what i did was took the cheap easy route, and i took out the rear lid, and i got one of those "noodles" that you can float on in the watter, and cut really small sections out, like an inch or so thick(give or take some) and i placed those on the deck, then put the rear deck lid back ok, and it stoped the noise....
