The dealer said that my intake gasket has gone, leaking oil,so i asked about the new style of gasket, and new torqing pattern, and they looked at me like i was talking a different language, then after a while they said that it was only for 96 and newer,my question is --would'nt the new gasket work on a 94 3.1,the same as a 96 and newer 3.1,a 3.1 is a 3.1 right? also the engine is making a ticking sound (not too loud) think maybe from a lifter or sticky valve, should i get the valves ,rollers, and lifters replaced while they are in there,or just lifters,or just rollers,or none ,just drive it like it is? i am hoping to keep the car for another 2yrs or longer, also how much would it cost to get the lifters or rollers or both done while they are in there doing the gasket, sorry for all the questions but,i would like to know what my options are while they have it apart. btw this site rocks,i also had the problem with my SES light coming on after i was driving at highway speeds, and i cleaned out the egr hole thingy, following the step by step by slam 2316 thankyou slam, and it worked great. thanks for any input

It's really great when the dealer doesn't even have a clue!! The upper and lower intake gaskets are the same between the 94 and 96 engine. Here are Fel Pro's part numbers:

MS95537 Fel Pro part # for 1994 intake gasket set

MS95537 Fel Pro part # for 1996 intake gasket set

Some of the dealers just absolutely bowl me over with thier ignorance!!
