My JL Audio 15's finally bit the dust. They were pretty old though. So I bought three 12" kicker vr's and threw those in. Before, I had three 12's and two 15's, now I have six twelves (the other ones are JL Audio). Most of those stupid cancellations are gone and it sounds a lot better. Any opinions on those Kickers?

My opinion on kicker subs is that they suck. Just my opinion. As far as a suggestion goes I suggest getting all the same subs and make sure the box is right for all of them. I once put 8 twelves in a van once and it was insane. They were in huge ported boxes with 4000 watts of power and it just hurt. Good luck though. Lee

i like kicker subs. ive known of too many people with kick ass stereos that use them. i have the 18" comp vr in my girlfriends car and a 12" solobaric in my truck. they both handle what i give them. the 18" had around 1500 watts going to it, (although right now it has like 650) and it would only strain if i really pushed it. the 12 has somewhere around 550-600 and it sounds great. i've heard from a bunch of people to not mix and match sizes of subs (i.e. 15s & 12s). something about them fighting each other. i dont think that the same kind of sub really matters. i would do it just because im anal about stuff like that. i know a guy that used to have 6 10s in a taurus and there were 3 different kinds. sounded pretty damn good though.

My opinion of kicker and rockford, for that matter, is just that, my opinion. If we all liked the same brand there wouldn't be so many to choose from. As far as mixing subs you can as long as the different brands don't share the same air space as the others. They will destroy each other in time. Lee

i know. i have an opinion like that about JL. dont get me wrong, JL makes some good products, but i think they're to overrated. which, so are a bunch of other name brand subs and amps. if i came upon a good deal with JLs i wouldnt pass them up, but its not a brand i go out and shop for.

nah i gotta agree with btchn1....rockford and kicker just dont do it for me...in fact i hate rockford products with a passion....i guess i'm an jl and eclipse for top quality kinda guy, and i like audiobahn for the reasonable priced subs category. And yeah with the whole mixing and matching thing...that's definitely not the best idea i think...15's are big and dont move as fast as a 12, so your gonna have a little and sometimes a lot of delay between them when u mix'em

i must be missing something about JL that everyone here sees. i know a guy that used to have 12 JL 12s in his demo truck (his dad owned a shop) and it sounded good, and was very loud, but it just didn't blow my dress up. and i've heard a bunch of 1 or 2 sub JL systems, but again, nothing to write home about. i dont really care a whole lot for fosgate subs, their top of the line ones, power hx2, can handle quit a bit of power, but thats all they're good for really. i've used primarily kicker subs since my first system, and some of them did sound horrid, but i think that was kind of my fault for not having good stuff. i dont want to start a war, because everyone is entitled to their opinion, but for the money, i'll stick to kicker and get just a good a sub.
