I took my 99 grand-am into Mac Donald pontiac in moncton for the fuel gage that was not working plus the brakes that were making noise. The brakes were done buy theme in october of 2002 so I thought they would be covered by the lifetime warrenty but wait till you here this. They were not under warrenty by gm because I didn't have the brakes inspected by them at 20,000 km. I said what I never heard about this before and was told it was even in the owners manuel. I told them to take the car out right now,and drove over to get my car. I get there and I told them to show me where in the book it says 20,000 inspection of brakes. Oh Its not there yet because they are just starting to print it in the new books, plus they told me its a old policy that they have. I get into a big agument with them and was just about to hit the sh*t when he was charging me 75.00 to look at the brakes and the fuel gauge. Then he tells me he is being nice cause he could have charged me 75.00 for both the brakes and fuel gauge. That is when I lost it and they had to go get help because I was know pissed off with my father backing me up know. Anyways I got the bill for 25.00. They wanted to charge me almost 300.00 for the front pads with labour and turning the rotors, and if the rotors didn't pass I needed new ones. So about 600.00 dallors. The fuel gage needes the kit because its always moving from full to empty

Do you have your recepits and everything from the brake work? I would be going to another dealership right about now. If they can't prove it in writing that you had to get it inspected, I don't see how they can enforce that.. Just stupidity!

wtf is up with the dealerships nowadays?? i got my new GA from a mom&pop dealership with a 10k miles, 1 year warranty and i got my passenger side mirror replaced (cause of paint chipping), front brakes and rotors changed, and new dexcool put in for nothing... all i've paid to have done is get a new keyless entry reprogrammed for 30 bucks...

just seems like everyone's having problems with GM dealerships and just getting some retarded ass runaround...

That's amazing. My dealership is awesome, and never given me any problems with warranty work. Even going so far as to replace a fabric panel on the inside of the driver's side door on my 2002 Montana that looked like it had a wear line it at 2,000 miles. Some dealers are crooks, some actually want to help the customer. You found one of the bad ones, it seems. If worse comes to worse, bring it down to OH - I know a great dealer...

Obviousley you caught the service writer on a bad day. Even on a good day that is pure B/S. Even if the service info was ammended you were not notified therefore you should be covered. If I was you I'd take it to an independant repair shop for any and all service required and only use the dealership for warranty and recall work. Taking it else where will not void your warranty as long as you have receipts of regular maintanance.

lol when i was purchasing my car we were about to cut the check when they were backing the car down to us and the damned taillights were out. I pointed it out to the salesman who then talked it over w/ the manager who then told me that they would guarantee that the car would still be there and they would fix the taillights...but i would have to put down a downpayment.

My dad then went off telling them how that was bs and he wasnt going to pay for somthing that doesnt work. the next day we went back and everything was fine so we purchased it but the manager didnt even come out and speak to us :roll2: some people need to learn some business ethics dont ya think? lol

With mine, we were in the financial office going over the paperwork, writing the check and stuff. The dealer came out and told us he was taking it to get gas in it. On the way out, we noticed the tail light was out (actually, the financial person pointed it out), and they gave us a "we owe". I took the car home, and brought it in to be fixed the following day. I love my dealership! They're awesome with new cars, too. I've now bought three cars from there, and would be hard pressed to go anywhere else.

I also forgot to mention that after I got out of that sh*t hole , that I went over to lounsbury's chev-olds which is just up the road about 1000 feet. And quess what , the brake pads would be done by them under warrenty. I just don;t understand why two GM dealers would have different warrenty and rules. I know for sure I will never buy a vehicle from Mac Donald pontiac in moncton or take it there for repairs. This is the same place last year that would not replace my rotors under warrenty when they were warped, but I took it down the street to lounsbury's and they did it under warrenty. One note it takes two weeks to get a appointment at lounsbury's,but you can get one at mac donald pontiac as soon as you drive in. I wonder who has the better service!!!!!
