Today out of the blue I started on my mobile video set up. This was supposed to be a winter project. At first we were just kicking around some ideas, then the next think I know my car is in the shop getting hacked appart! As of now, I have a 5.6" monitor flush mounted in the passenger side of my dash. Tomorrow I'm probably going to be wrapping the pannel in tweed to match the rest of my interior and adding embossed flame accents. Also all the wiring for the monitor and blah...RF modulator (its only temporary) is run.

Next comes the PS2. I'm going to be some what relocating my 3rd breaklight and mounting the PS2 on the rear deck (in the gully between my 6x9's). Then running the controller extension cable up to my center console where the plug will be flush mounted. RCA's and power cable are next. Once everything is operational I'm going to be doing a removeable (possibly fiberglassed) pannel to put over the PS2 to make it a little more stealth.

I'm not in a huge hurry to get it done, but it will be done for the last car show in my area held by another local car club that helped my club out with some give aways at our show. I have till October to finish this up.

yeah.

Having no digital cam sucks! Whats really funny about that is I work in a place that sells them and I get a wild discount on them!

My club needs to get pics for our site soon so there will be some coming shortly.

does sound nice, but isn't that a little out of the way to mount your ps2? if you're not going to be changing movies or games very often it would work. i have my ps2 mounted on the hump in my truck that goes over the tranny. that way its still close if i get in the mood to change anything. what are you going to do to get rid of the fm modulator? i have a/v inputs on my stereo, so i didnt need one. and i know you can buy adapter type things for some headunits.

If your familliar at all with the interior area of the older Grand Ams, they're not as close as spacious as the newer ones are. The PS2 isn't even close to fitting under the seats (my first mounting location for it) and since I already have my DSP mounted under the passenger side and my sneaky pete system under my driver side seat, that pretty much uses up those spaces. With the PS2 up on the rear deck location Its out of the way...not going to get stepped on/kicked, well unless I'm getting lucky ;-) and its still fairly acessable. Besides your not supposed to be watching any mobile video from the driver seat so my passenger can do the changinge of games/dvd if need. lol I really didn't do it for long road trips or to entertain passengers, its a show car so keeping things clean and custom is the game plan.

The Deck I'm ususing is a few years old and does not have aux inputs. I've been considering upgrading to a newer Eclipse to replace it, and the 2 new headunits I'm interested in have aux's. For the time being I don't really want another Headunit hanging around not being used, so I'm going to keep it in the car till I sell the one in my Jeep most likely.

its been so long since i've seen the interior of the older grand ams. i do remember that the 2 doors weren't that spacious inside. lol. if you're getting lucky in the back seat of one of those you have my pitty. :D even my girlfriends newer 4 door one isn't very comfortable while bumping uglies. i know what you mean by not having any space under the seats. i had very few mounting options in my truck. its a single cab silverado. i have my power invertor under the passenger side, bessy the 9mm under the driver seat, sub and a whole bunch of other stuff behind the seat. i hardly ever have more than one passenger with me, so its not really a worry about it getting kicked or banged around for me. i kind of went for the afro engineer and put some velcro on the bottom of it so its removable. if i need to move it all i gotta do is unplug it, pull it out of the floor and put it in my toolbox.

Today I got the dash and mounting the monitor finished up, and found out that the switch that came with the FM modulator was bad, but once I figured that out, I had to ghetto rig the PS 2 in. Had the PS2 plugged into the wall outlet in my garage, and and the A/V hooked up to the FM Modulator and the monitor in the car and voila. lol Nothing beats watching Old School in the car! Damn what a great movie..... lol Come on everybody...we're going streakin up the quad to the gymnasium

Well, everything is now pretty much finished up. We broke it in at work by watching a Dean Cook (I think thats his name...haha) dvd of a show he did on Comedy Central...funny stuff.
