My ex '88 ranger has well over 280,000 miles on it and still runs like a brand new one. I have heard of alot of head/valve problems from the 2.9 V-6, but my friend who now owns the truck (after my dad who bought it new, me for about 2 years, and now him) have had nothing but good luck from it. Its had a fuel pump, a thermostat, 2 clutches, some front end parts, 2 exhuast systems, a cat converter, 2 sets of shocks, and alot of oil changes /tires/fuel filters/plugs/etc. Just goes to show you what regular maintenence and some TLC can do for a vehicle. Change the oil, plugs, and drive em!! I will admit that it looks a little "weathered" (the clearcoat is starting to peel pretty bad), but it still fires up every morning and runs great. And it has very little rust...just a bit above the rear wheel wells. The best part is that the A/C and cruise control still works great. I would take that little truck back any day.

Well lets see.... My old neighbor has a 93 GASE V6 with 390,000miles on it (its had 4 trannys put in it and a new engine at 360,000miles.). and my best friend just bought a 1987 GASE with the origional 3.0L V6 and origional auto tranny(slips a little) it has 185,000miles but he only bought it for 200bucks.
