well you realy dont have that many wires going to and from, there is
to and from signal wires
to amp wire
from amp to subs wires

if you mount the amp on the box then you get rid of the amp to sub wires hanging every where

you can do 1 of 2 things for the signal and power amp wire you can either punch holes in your floor mat or trail your wires to the closest over-lap where the floor mats meet.

if you punch holes then you will either have to keep your stuff right were it is or you will have a hold in your floor for the rest of time.

thats all I know you can do, but their is proably different options that I dont know of as of yet.

u must have just put the amps in the back seat?

I'd mount them on the back of the seats, assuming they're the fold down ones. Slice small holes in the covering & run the wires through w/ the aid of a coathanger wire. I highly reccomend against mounting any amp on a box. The severe vibration they take on dramatically reduces the amplifiers lifespan.

Maybe mount one one on the box and the other two on false walls on the sides of the trunk. Or mount them pirimade like on the box and build one big cover panel with a window to show just the amps. I would suggest looking in magazines or on sound domain for some ideas. Basically look at any car and the basic idea should work. Peace, Lee

i ran the all the wires going to the trunk under the carpet. when it got to the trunk i used blue wire loom on all the wires that you could see. but to lower the amount of wires you see i drilled holes big enough for the wires to fit through on my amp rack. behind the amp rack isn't a show piece by any means, but i have most of the wires just long enough to get where they're going with a couple inches of slack and zip tied together. im in the process of redoing most of the system in my girlfriends car, im not going to have the same trunk set up, so im not sure how the new finished product is going to look

just cut a piece of wood big enough for all the amps to fit on comfortably. cut you a couple legs to stand it at an angle, unless you want it at 90 degrees. paint it, cover it with vinyl, or just leave it wood, screw the legs to the big piece. mount the amps. drill a hole about 4 inches from where the wire goes to the amp and pull the wire through and hook everything back up. really its easy. you can get really complicated and extravagent, but thats just up to you

I have my wires running up through the spare tire well cover because I have my amp mounted on that cover, but I plan on making a false floor and sticking my amp in the spare tire well (I just have to get around to doing it).

I have three amps and barely any visible wires. I have amps mounted on a board behind the brake lights and hid the wires underneath the carpet and one amp on the spare tire cover. I drilled holes in my cover and fed wires through it.

the first thing do to is bundle the wires together. use zip ties or electrical tape. speaker wires and power wire can go together, and then keep the signal cables separated fromt he rest, but keep all of them together. once they are bundled, it should look neater, and it should be easier to hide. all of the above stated ideas are good ideas. the cleanest look is with false floors, or at least mount them on a board, drill holes, and bring the wires up from underneith, then cover the boars in carpet to match the trunk.

Amp racks are the best way to get rid of wires.

To have your center sub bolted the way it is, do you need your box ported?

sound_xtreme

no

endsane

Well does it make any difference in sound, or is it just for looks

car audio dave

it shouldnt make a huge change in sound and it IS mostly for looks, but if you invert your subs you can make te box a bit smaller since you now dont have the displacement of te magnet inside the box. mine are inverted for show and for a smaller box.

yea, notice how the center chamber looks smaller? that is because it is. lol. but i made that box for show. still insanely loud. but just for show.

does anyone have a box building program, or know where i could get one cheap? im wanting to make a pimp ass looking box for my girlfriends car. every idea i come up with gets shot down because the sub is too big:( .

What exactly do you want? and what size is the sub

matts
10-01-2003, 10:15 PM
i dont really know. its an 18". i know i want a pretty big sealed box, but i want her to have some trunk space too. and i want the sub facing the rear.

dang...that's a pretty big sub.

I guess it's just your preference on your dimensions. For example, right now I'm making my own box as well. I have two 10's, and got sick of the huge sub box in my trunk. So instead of having these subs right in the middle of my trunk, I'm making two boxes to fit on each corner by the tail lights.

If you made it an angle towards the back, it would give it a pretty cool look. Just make sure you have enough room for the magnet.

yeah, shes a pretty big 'un. i just want the bigger box for bigger bass. i have considered ported, but have kind of decided against it. its not going to be an easy task. whole lot of process of elimination and a bunch of test fitting. even when i get the box done i have 3 amps, cd changer, crossover, distribution block, cap, and im about to put another battery in there. grand ams need bigger trunks, like the caddy:D

endsane

Well, you don't have to mount the amps and the crossover and the rest of the stuff on the sub box. I mounted my two amps, the cap, and the distributer on my back seat.

If you did that, you could have more room for your box. I guess it also depends on how your amps vent, if they need to be horizontal or vertical.

i'm not going to mount them on the sub box. i'll have a seperate amp rack, it's just a cahllenge trying to get all that stuff crammed in there.:D
