Hey all!

Now that winter is comming, I need your help to choose the right hub caps for the winter because I'll store my 15" rims for the winter. I won't let my car on black steel rims... no way!

So, my son (lamonpat) and I went to Canadian Tire today to look at the caps. We can't decide between those 3 choice.

#3http://invis.free.anonymizer.com/http://images.canadiantire.ca/media/images/Automotive/CustomPerformance/WheelCovers/0418045_100_CC_18621.jpg

They are all the same price (13.99$ CDN each).
I also looked for original Grand Am hub caps, but I can't find a set in good condition for less than 150$ CDN and I don't want to pay more than 60$ for the set.

Which ones do you like the best.

I like 3 best. It's most true to the GA style in my opinion. 1 could work too, but I really think 2 would look bad on a GA. Hope this helps you decide. Let us know your final choice!

Just noticed.. the third is the only one with a 5-bolt pattern.. which is what GA's have. I realize that its just a hub cap.. but just spewing random thoughts.. lol

Thanks all for your replies.

I'm for #3 too, but dad likes #1 and mom #2... :roll2:
Since I'll go to the shop to buy them, I'll get what I want, even if it's my mom's car... HAHA!:P

None of those hub caps bolt to the rims. Those with the lug are just fake.

Did yo uever see the new ones on the market....Made for 14" wheels, but make them appear like 16 or17" wheels er umm hubcaps. lol I guess they overlay the sidewall.....

I also heardthat there's fake "spinner" hub caps out there... lol

Yeah I know that.. was just thinking that it would probably look more 'Grand Am' (and not more 'Generic' lol) if you kept the bolt pattern.. i dunno

I like # 1 and 3

what happened to the hub caps that came with your car/wheels?

Or you could get some of these:

I actually really like my wheel covers, I htink they look very nice on my car, and are just very Cadillac-like.....but I just can't get over the fact they are sill wheel covers on 15" steel wheels......although they do stay very clear from brake dust and stuff, plus they are not cheap plastic, mine are very nice stainless steel/chrome, and with the spokes an all, it covers up the whel pretty good. The front left cover has a good dent around the edge, someone must have hit something,a dn the rear right tire, thanks to me riding up on the curb a few times making a right turn too sharp, has nice scratches along the outside (along with black marks on tire smeared across white wall) I have thought about getting some new wheel covers on my ar, I photo chooped 5 star wheels, and even got rid of the whitewalls, but it looked soo bad, I dunno what I'd do, I guess since I actually like my wheel covers, and they don't get dirty (cleaning spokes is a real pain) then I may as well leave them.....although I heard alloy wheels improve handling, although I am sure on my car, the wheels woudln't really make a big differnce..... now the next question is: to white wall or not to white wall?

How about just some black steel wheels?

I am actually looking forward to this winter because we are going to mount snow tires to 15 or 16 inch steelies. I guess my brother in-law is supposed to get us some but who knows what that kid does. I mght just as well order them from TireRack right now.

Out of those 3 ... definately #3 ... but, you can buy (or 'could buy) brand new factory ones for $27 CDN each at the dealer ... only problem then is that you need those special lug nuts (you know, the ones with internal and external threads) ... anyway, you might also what to just consider black steel wheels like John mentioned or maybe just a set of trim rings :)

Thanks everyone for your answers!
I'll go with #3.

Kelly, I called the dealer for the factory ones, they are 59$ CDN each.

Night Wolf, I'll store my rims for the winter, because I want to keep them like new.

Hopefully, I don't have to buy brand new steel rims. When I had the 96 Grand Prix (my previous car) I had 2 sets of steel rims but sold the car with only one set, so I still have the other set.

Those oversized hubcaps suck. My friend put them on his 91 cutlass and two where gone in one week. They fell off the car.:2up: Not only that but they make lots of clunking noises when going over bumps. Thats why i like rims better.:D

Darn tootin! The world would be a better place if every car was rockin' the steelies.

My opinion, of course.
