I don't remember seeing this posted yet and I thought it was interesting.
http://a332.g.akamai.net/f/332/936/12h/www.edmunds.com/pictures/VEHICLE/2005/Pontiac/100202608/024028-E.jpg
I found it at Edmunds (http://www.edmunds.com/future/2005/pontiac/grandam/100202608/preview.html?tid=edmunds.f.discussions.leftsidenav ..0.Pontiac*) where they have some other information on it, but not much.
It's kind of hard to tell, but I think like I the look. I think I like it better than the pictures of the concept G6. Although it sort of reminds me of a Cougar or the new Sebring.

Seeing as the Grand Am name will be discontinued after 2004, I'd say that article is a bit outdated.

Look for press releases in early January, prior to the NAIAS

it's a Grand Am.. although they will now be calling it the G6. this car does the G6 concept no justice. the sides are too busy.. the mirrors are very cheap looking and the whole stance of the car is f'd up. eh.. what could you expect from a car that is based off the new Malibu? :roll2: if you think the front end is funny looking, wait until you see the dodge neon rear. :P

How can you say it's a Grand Am? It shares nothing with the current N-Body, not even the name. :(

it's a Grand Am replacement. so it's the same thing in my book. the Grand Am leaves and the G6 takes over. so it's the same car.
the current GA looks worlds better than this new monstrosity GM is making. :O it's too bad..

Again, don't look at that pic and make the judgment. The G6 is based on GM's new Epsilon platform which has already proven to be a step up. The new G6 will be something special. Just wait and see :)

i'll remain hopefully optimistic, but after seeing what GM did with the Malibu (uglifying a tight looking Opel Vectra) I can't see how they will make this car any better.

Definately a different looking thing. But it won't hurt the Grand Am name at all it is the G6. I think once people see more of them and get a chance to see them in person things will change. Just think a whole new car to mod now that will get peoples interests right there.

The G6 is ugly in my opinion. I'm glad I bought a new GA when I did.. If I could trade my car in on anything.. It would be a Honda Civic.

I don't mean this to sound condescending, but here goes...
Let's see.. the G6 gets a performance upgrade... something GA owners have been utterly whining about for the last 6-7 years. They boost the power, offer a manual (something else GA owners have been saying "Give us! Give Us!!" They redesign it on a new studier platform, and already before they even see the final result people are dogging it! JEEEEEEEEEEEEZ!!! If you guys and gals knew how often GM listens to you, and how often GM marketing people read boards like this I think you would be shocked!! I'm sure Kelly and Shawn can trace individual IP's that hit this board, I think they'd be amazed at how many of them would trace back to GM. They want to know what you think, and let me tell you, it discourages them to see things like "If I were to trade my GA in for anything, it'd be a Honda Civic".... (the very market they're trying to compete with.) So they take into account everything that GA owners ask for, give it to them, and they still can't please the owners.... I'll tell ya, if I were GM I would just give up!
As far as the SSR... People had been asking for a sports truck with all kinds of options from GM. They build it, put it into production, and yes, it's expensive, but it's everything that's been asked for. People dog it again.
GTO... same story. People want the 5.7 back, they want a car with some bang for their buck. Let me tell you, the GTO is a beautiful and FAST car. People call it a glorified Grand Prix.
I'm sure the Bel Aire will be the same story.
I know this is a rant and what not, but sheesh! I guess people will never be satisfied if they're given what they ask for.
I for one BLEED PONTIAC RED! I'll always own one so long as I can afford a car at all.
I serve the Generals Army! :)

i agree with the rant. i love the SSR and the GTO (Except for the rear.. too Jap looking-dual exhaust needs to be on both sides)
i'm a little annoyed that Pontiac couldn't just keep the Grand Am name.. there was nothing wrong with it and you already have a Grand PRIX.. so why not keep Grand AM?
if GM built a good product that made a name for itself, they wouldn't have to change names every 7-10 years (Cavalier case in point).

not to get off subject..
i bought my 99 grand am almost a year ago and i absolutely love the look of it and it runs awesome, but i have had a lot of little problems with it that cost a lot of money. i feel like everytime i start it up i fear something new is gonna go wrong. if i had my choice of a car right now i would get a 2000-2002 honda accord. much more reliable and a little better on gas. other than that my grand am is the $hit! i guess i just like looking at it (except for my aluminum 5 star rims, not the chrometech!)

Exaust will be out both sides on the 05 GTO (again GM responding to public thoughts)
The rest of it... marketing. Pure and simple. You'll probably see the Grand Am name jump in about 25 years from now or so.
Understand that when you hear the name of a car, you associate it with something. Grand Am... you think (average driver, 42 year old single woman, decent car for the money, decent option list, some owners have problems with such and such)
If you think G6...you have nothing to go on besides rumors and "expected" numbers and opitions. It's new, it's fresh, and although it may or may not be "Based off the Grand Am"it prompts you to think of something besides "a decent overall everyday car".

good news about the GTO. i knew that pontiac was coming out with a Judge trim level but had no idea that they were definitely separating the exhaust pipes ;) . that's great news.. from what i could see, it looked like separating the pipes would lessen restriction and would allow for more hp :D .
