Welp, the total came to just over 4,900 (american). They gave me 100 bucks because they broke my neon tube and replaced the clutch for free because they didn't ask me if I wanted it done and just did it. That would have been almost 500 bucks for the clutch. And I know people will say if you had to replace the clutch I should have gone with something better than stock. But hey, it was free ok, and when am I ever going to get something for free from a dealer, eh? Besides I didn't even know they were going to do it.
But anyways, I thought that if there as anything wrong with the steering they would have caught it but apparently it's not bad enough because you can't possibley not notice then when you turn the wheel all the way to the left and then back to the right is squeeks and snaps a little. Probably just the belt... I'm hoping, and not anything more serious like with the suspension. Any clues what might be causing this? Also, it doesn't do it while driving at any kind of speed, just at a stop or a slight roll.
It's good do have the car back though, it rides so super smooth with the new engine and clutch. And I missed the extra torque under 3000RPM. Talon's got none 'till the turbo spools.
They of course did not want to touch my gauges, I'm keeping the pyrometer and air/fuel one (I got a new 2 gauge pod for them a while ago). I'm gonna have a little performance shop here in town take care of it for me. Said he would hook the gauges up for 30 bucks and he checking on neons for me.

Correction. The service engine light came on and then the power steering went out entirely while I was in a turn. I had to muscle it around and back to my house. I'm just glad it went out right by my place instead of down the highway or something.
Guess she is going back to the dealer tomarrow. I think the belt snapped. At leat that is what it felt like, but I suppose the pump might have gone out. I'll find out tomarrow I'm sure, but I'm just a little miffed that no one could find a problem when I said there was one until it broke.

The tow truck is coming right now to pick up the car. Dealer said they would bill them for it. Hope that doesn't come back around to me. Better not, they better fix the power steering pump too. I just checked the belts and they are all there.

If the belts are intact, then it is the pump. For me it was 252 dollars for the fix and now it is under lifetime warranty with no conditions.

IIRC my old Quad4 had belts (YES BELTS), and the power steering was by itself...... I remembered the steering was real heavy, and the wheel wasn't getting much power assist, we tightened the power sterring belt, and it was great, although the belt is worn, it was loose......... it's been a long time since I even looked at the Q4 so I don't remember much anything else about it

well seeing as it isnt a quad 4 i figured it doesnt have belts. although i could be wrong but most serpentine belt systems use one belt. every one i have seen has only had one.

I've been without my car for longer than I can remember now. Had it back earlier this year for about a month after I rebuilt the head on it before the engine took a total dive.
But, they took a look and said there is a problem with the intake valve (no idea what they are referring to or why there would be a problem there, the guy was out for the day and I talked to some lady on the phone), and the power steering rod. Apparently when they put it all back together they broke something so they are going to warranty it. Originally they thought I was the pump, in which case I would have had to pay for it but I guess that is fine.

Hey, on a different note, I'm thinking of getting the RSMracing intake for the 2.4 since my old one has a whole in it where the NX nozzle was and it never fit right anyways (since it was designed for the cavalier/sunfire). What do you guys think of it? Anyone have it?

ok so anyways, i'm really starting to wonder if there is a problem with the 2.4 and power steering because i was told that it was a bad bushing on the new engine that powers the power steering pump that caused the failure. On my previous engine I was starting to have the same problem. oh well, at least it will be fixed under warranty now. Just wondered if anyone else had the same problem.

so... it turns out it was a bad bushing on the camshaft that powers the power steering pump that went on the new engine. I was starting to have the same problem with the old engine too. I wonder if it is just a bad piece on that particular motor or if I just had bad luck. Anyhoot they fixed it under the new warranty.
Then later last night the service vehicle soon light came on for no apparent reason, and then turned off this morning. Oh well, good thing is they tweaked the o2 sensor so that it doesn't turn on the sevice engine soon light soon because of the high flow cat. I previously tried both o2 sims for the 3.4 ga and 2.4 cavalier but they didn't work.
Ahhh, it's good to have my ga back. You know your a ricer when you rev your engine at the sales people after pulling out of the garage.
That sucks I've been without my car since May....
and well pretty much everything in the car is changed.. I hope nothing goes wrong and goes smooth..

and the power steering still creeks... at least it works. and the service vehicle soon light did it again. came on then went back off. i think it thinks there is something wrong with the automatic headlights because when i started the car at night with the brake on (headlights off) then it came on but when i turned it back off and started it with the brake off the headlights came on and the light didn't. blah..
