Well went down to the Tranny shop today and he drove it around a bit and there was nothing electrical wrong with it because it didnt register in the computer.
Now FYI when I shift from P, R, N to D there is a delay. 3,4,5 seconds. Now he realized that too because I told him and he used his scanner thing and upd some kind of pressure and there was no delay at all. So it is something internal and it will have to come out.
*If your squeemish and dont like high costs and labor then turn your head*
Lucky Cost-100-300 dollars
Good-400-600
and horrible taking up a second job dropping outta school not making enough money BS-1500 dollars.
So wish me luck when I go back in to have it taken out and looked at.

Well in that case... good luck with the repairs and I hope it ends up costing you in the $1500 range for the repairs. Good job turning a $10K+ piece of property into a steaming pile of crap. I'd say I hope you learned your lesson, but its obvious by your posts that you haven't. Congrats for being a fool.

that was a little rough.. Cmon the kid has pics of his ga engulfed insmoke, I think thats awesome, and so did alot of people. Now as for the tranny, my tmh125 slipped for a few seconds when shifted into gear, It has done it for over a year now, and Nothing bad has happened from it, It seems the torque converter may need new fins on your car. I say drive it till it fails then worry about the tranny. Untill then save up for the repair and if it never needs to be done you have a bunch of money to mod with. Have a wonderfull day and may you smoke off the rest of your tires.

My parents would have kicked my @$$ at that age.If you still have not learned anything from this I hope that you have to pay every red cent of that repair.I know mine would have made me.

:roll2: Sheesh guys! weren't you young & to wild 4 your own good once? I did the same things to my 1st car & paid the same price. The only thing I would say is foolish, & I hope it was just a comment & not serious,... I definately think it's be taking a bad situation & making it worse by dropping outta schoool to work & fix the car that I beat to death. Just take your lumps & do w/out a car untill you get it fixed, that is if/ when it dies. I learned my lesson, I sold the car (laugh if you must/ it was a Plymouth Horizon - just don't spread that around too much) & I bought a 2 year old z28 (1987). That way I could smoke my tires the right way! Ok, I was still a little foolish then, you'd think I loved to buy tires! But what the hell, it was fun back then, I had a hot car & loved showin off in it.

Sounds like my brother when he got his '01 Alero last year. He got the extended 75,000 mile warranty. He already needed a new tranny, 2 sets of tires, some wheel axle thingy, and something else that I can't remember. His comment when I asked him WTF's wrong with him is, "If I have the extented warranty, why not put it to use. I'm not paying for it for nothing"
What a dumbass. :nic:
man you guys are overly rough on him... sounds like you're all money laundering conservatives to me... :2up:
shit happens, shit breaks... we get it fixed and go on our merry way. **** live life a little, sometimes it throws some pay back at you like bills and repairs.. but **** enjoy the car till it dies. I've enjoyed all my cars just the same. They are driven!
That reminds me I need to order some clips for the fender flares on my jeep, they don't hold up too well to all this offroading it's been experiencing lately. 76,000 miles and kickin strong!!

i'm sorry... but i would NEVER beat my car to shit like that... espeically something as beautiful as a newer GA... if i could've got a car like that at 16, i would've did everything in my power to keep that baby in working condition... I feel no pity for someone who RUINS a GOOD car like this... I can see a 92' Sundance (like i had) that i beat to f@ck... that car only cost me 200 bucks, it was worth it when the tranny finally died in it..
That's a lot diff. then beating a 10k car into the ground... He knew the consequences, but he continued anyway... I could be a little more understanding maybe if he was naive of what would happen, but we warned him, and he knew... Like i've said before, maybe this will wake him up, but who knows... he'll probably get this fixed and then total it a week later... :roll2:
I'm 20... I got a 2001 Grand Am.. I already blew the motor up from drag race abuse.. am I a bad person?
hardly I'm giving the car the time of its life. I've seen three copy cats of my car already in Vegas...... minus the wheels and the REAL motor...
This car is great to womp on... I can't wait to see what this new setup will do w/ some sneaky tricks.

hey, more power to you if you have the money to blow on a new motor, tranny, or anything on the car... but it's just stupid to tear apart a car like that, plain and simple... have fun with your car, don't kill it

It's been killed once... #3 bearing adios...
third set of tires, 3rd set of wheels... destroyed warranty via GM's cool fake policys that they make up and not tell you about until you need something... 2nd full set of brakes... all in 33thousand miles...

... It's not like they're buying up cherry '71 El camino's & tearing them up for "8" track cars:roll2: You'd think we were talking about Ferrari's here?!?

that's liek my friend, he has a '98 Jetta GLS......actuall it's his car and he is not hard on it, or dosn't beat on it, he simply destorys it....... EVERYTIME he pulls out he floors it, takes sharp tunrs at 60mph on 30-40mph back roads, always speeds, pulls the e-brake while doing 40 becuase "it's cool and it makes smoke" now he has real bad thumps, but he said the rear tires are going to be replaced soon, so why not use them up, he does neutral drops all the time, and when I told him that is not good, he said he went to a transmition forum and they said it is fine becuase his car does it very smooth and that is what drag racers do (I since told him people that drag race brake tourqe and explained how to do that, not neutral drops) I had to follow him after school one day becuase I was going some place i didn't know where to go (actually to see one of my other friends cars he wrecked...... same car s my friend, it was a '97 Jetta GLS, only thing was it was the 5spd and had leather, so it was a really nice little car....now it's totaled though) and we are doing 60 down a 40mph back road, I hit this huge hump in the road (then there isa huge hill that goes down) and literally got air in my car, taking the turns too fast, he was doing 70 in a 55 on the open highway, I am like this is firggin hell on the car, he peels out and floors it all the time, redlines the egnine all the time, it's not even his car it's his dad's and he "gave" it to him for the time being, only pays $100/month insurance (that's all his father wants) I tell him all the time to slow down, fo rthe car and for him.....he is my best friend, and we always hang out and stuff, but I know one thig for sure, he is not going to ever be driving my DeVille.......
........ I guess I am also saying that, yeah my car is 11 years old, but I am not going to beat on it, I know I am at "that age" where I am supposed to do stupid things and stuff, and I admit I do things that arn't very smart at times, but I am one of the most RESPONSIBLE drivers I know, and I want to have my car a looooong time (forever believe it or not, fo rmany reasons) and when I go the toe aligned on my car, the guy was like this is a '93? I was like yeah, he was like damn, the front end on this thing is better then alot of newer cars I see, it is like brand new, not a single thing wrong, not a single nut, bolt or anything loose, the whole underbody is clean, shocks, struts, damn, this is a nice car, and then that even further got me thinking, I am not going to wear out my car fast by doing stupid things like that.
Maybe I am missing out on a big part of my youth, and if I had a pos car, I am sure I would do stupid things, but I actually care about my car.
I can see how some people were harsh on ccar, but like was said, if you have a new car, I woudln't beat on it, tranny repairs to rebuild a tranny are $1400 or so, that's alot, and IMO not worth the few times you get to see smoke (which kills your tires)
I am not saying you did right or wrong, that is for other people to say and you to decide, I am just saying my POV on a similar situation, hope whatever happens, you have good luck with though.

To Tell the Truth..........I was teasing. At the time you posted you said you knew it was dumb and it would blow it up. So no flame was intended, I would have said the same thing standing next to you. :agree:

Yeah its alright I was just winning money with a bet. People dont usually associate smoking burnouts with GAs and a couple of my friends have RWD trucks and two mustangs and they were like you can do it no you cant blah blah blah. So I put like 20 dollars on the table for each of them. And there were no stipulations on how to do it so I did the reverse to drive and collected 80 dollars. The car is still drivable and thats good for me but the leak will continue to get worse so Im not driving it near as hard as I usually do. I am not a stupid with my car as I sound. :D

Well, I plan to have the car ATLEAST after college, by that time, it would have lost too much resale, it wouldn't be worth selling, I love this car, and already have to many memories with it, and I am sure there will be many, many more that I just couldn't let go. It is the last year for the Coupe DeVille, so it makes it a litle more specail, gold badge package, and the last of the traditional DeVille/Cadillac styling to date, THIS is the car, that in 25years from now, will be a true classic.
My father stil has his HS car- '68 GTO drop top (along with 14 other Pontiac's) and my mothers boyfriend (of the last 15 years) has his youth car- '69 Camero drop top....sure these cars wer't their first cars, but they still have em'
That's not to say I wont get another car, in fact next year I'd either like to get an older (ate 80's) truck or SUV to use for the winter and some 4x4 fun, or something like a '77 Coupe DeVille for cheap, then get a 500 and swap it in and build it up form there, so I will have a fun play around car and my normal car. I do all the work on my car and all that, so it gives me the extra bond, I have already torn both door panels apart, the whole dash, went over the whole engine countless times, ee under the car and inspected everything, so I have spent alot of time with her...... not something I would do with a car I didn't care about or want to have for awhile. Plus, the 4.9 can last well into 300k miles with just normal maintenace.

I understand where Nightwolf is comming from... the sentimental value and also the practicality. If you're going to pay $X.YZ for a car you may as well get your money out of it. And wise choice to keep the car through college (assuming it doesn't start nickle and diming you to death). Most of the college students are asshats with utter disregard for their own vehicle much less someone elses... Door dings galore.
