Okay, heres the story.. I had to leave school early to go home to get something I forgot them come back. After much red tape I was able to leave. I rushed home.. and infront of our driveway he have a bump cause we live on a hill.. its to keep the rain out. I scraped REALLY REALLY hard.. After doing what I had to do, I rushed back to school. After getting there, for the hell of it I decided to look under the car. I saw some fluid dripping and I paniced a lot.. The whole rest of the day my stomach was upset and I was worrying like mad. I expected to see a puddle of oil, or tranny fluid.. or something under my car when I went out there. I even had it set up for a friend to take me home if that was the case. I go out there at the end of the day... nothing is leaking.. I even checked the oil an tranny fluid before starting the car, they're fine. I drove home.. my car ran perfectly, I could steer, stop, shifted fine, engine didnt seaze or overheat.. I get home and check, no fluid dripping. I don't know what happened, maybe I ran over a puddle and it was dripping off my undercarriage, I wasn't really paying attention to that. Anyway, I guess all is well I'll just take it from there..... that was a lot to type...

Ray, I can FULLY understand what you felt. About 3 years ago, I stopped into a gas station on the way to work to get some fuel and coffee. On the way back to the car, I saw a HUGE puddle of transmission fluid just inside the left front wheel...RIGHT WHERE THE TRANSMISSION ON MY ZX2 IS!!! :omg: That scared the CRAP out of me because I did not feel any notchiness or whatever when I would shift gears just before the gas station. So it had to have happened, blowing a seal out or whatever, from the time I pumped the gas until I got back to the car from inside.
However, as I was looking at the puddle, which had to be at least 2 quarts worth, I noticed one thing that put my heart at ease. There was a tire track leading out of the puddle. So obviously the ATF was left there from a previous vehicle and they drove through it. Let's just say that after my heart had skipped a few beats, I sure felt a LOT better! :)

Actually, youre wrong. That manual trans, plus quite a few newer manual transmissions use ATF, or get this, motor oil (!) for lubrication.

I do that to many times than i like to say. The first time i hit the front of the car so hard i thought the air bags would go off. That is one of the few times i wish i was driving the malibu the front never hits the ground

Guess I was a very stupid fool to actually believe what the owners manual and the shop manual stated... And...I guess they are coloring gear oil RED because in 1998 when I drained the Mercon out for synthetic ATF, it was RED and felt AS THIN as ATF. UH-OH!!! I guess in under 5 years, I toasted my transaxle???? Funny, but it still shifts good...
Just remind me NEVER to let u even put wiper fluid in my car, ok??? :D

Here's is a tail of my nightmare.
Back when I had my '92 Z28 I was headed down one of the worst highways in the Albany area I-90 (aka freebie 90). Now remember my Z28 had Eibachs on it so it was a bit lower than stock. Anyhow I'm doing about 70mph with the flow of traffic during rush hour. I go to switch lanes, flip the signal, look in my right mirror, over my shoulder and back at the road just in time to see me hit a huge square peice of metal.
BAM!
I wacked it at a full 70+ and then dragged it to the shoulder of the road where it caught the edge of the concert/blacktop. It tossed my car up in the air then I heard it hit the rear axle and hop again. I jump out of the car using words that have never been said before. Walk back to see what it was. A huge peice of metal about 6"s square with 4 sides, and a huge thick ring welded to the top. I tried to push it to the grass off the shoulder with my foot but it was so heavy I only moved it a few feet before I said screw it. I could see this thing being used on some kind of heavy equipemnt maybe for lifting or something.
Anyhow I start walking back to my car and I see dripping from under it. F***!!! I quickly climb under it expecting to see a bust oil pan or tranny pan. Come to find out it was condisation on my AC dripping. Wow, what a relief that was. But wait, WTF! I had a big thick tear about 4-5" long in my crossmember directly under the oil pan, and it did dent the pan on the other side of the hole.
So I had a scare yes. But it sucked that it actually did do damage.
