Well guys and gals, the time has finally come. Today I traded in my beloved Grand Am and I will miss her dearly. I was going to wait another year after she was paid off (only had one more payment left), but the car was really starting to concern (and annoy) me with what seemed like tranny slippage over 50 mph and other miscelaneous noises, not to mention the good ol' GM rattles...

Since I am fortunate enough to be getting another good pay increase next month, I decided "why wait?" I might as well get the car of my dreams while I'm still young and single. While I got ripped on the trade-in, I got a really good lease deal on a silver 2004 Infiniti G35 coupe (nothing down; $499/month; 15K miles/year) w/ six-speed, Bose system, Brembro brakes, sunroof, and loads of other goodies. The car drives like a dream and feels soooo good. It's quick when you want it to be, but very easy to control whether you're driving it fast or just taking it easy. Best of all, there's enough cargo room to fit all my drums!

It's been fun being a part of this forum. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to sell the G/A on my own or take off a lot of the accessories I've added to her. The only thing I took were the headlight covers and cone air filter. I hope this site keeps growing and I will try not to be a stranger. I appreciate all the help and ideas I've received from everyone on this site (and others) and I've learned a lot about cars over the last 4 years through this site. Thanks for the memories, everyone; it's been a fun time!

Hey man, i'm sorry you sold your car!! lol, you shoulda gotten a 2004 GA!! haha its okay. I hope you have good luck with your new infiniti.. Although a $499/mo lease is a little pricy for me:) You could always buy another old GA just to keep in style! Anyway I hope the car brings u joy, but not as much as your ga:D ;)

LOL! Didn't you guys see the "sorta" in the subject? ;) I did not mean I was leaving for good; just that I probably won't be around "as much" as I used to. I'll try to take some pics soon (when the weather improves and I reinstall the software for my camera)...

True, $499/month is a lot of money to "throw away" (if that's how you look at it) on a lease, but I don't think I could have afforded this car by financing it, even if I saved up $5K to put down; that would have been like having an extra mortgage (ouch)! What matters the most is being happy with what you're driving and also staying within your means. I test-drove a 5-speed Mazda 6s also and I could have financed a fully loaded one for barely over $400/month, but it just wasn't the same (I like coupes anyway); not to mention it had a Ford engine. :roll2: Besides I've been wanting a reliable, 250+ HP/14-second car (from the factory) for a looooong time and this is the only one I've been able to find that is everything I want and spacious enough. Because of that, I don't mind leasing because I don't need to modify this car (maybe I'll get some different rims for it down the road and an intake, but that's it).

infiniti's are hella nice cars. congrats on the exquisite taste (thats a big word isnt it?) but i dont think i could lease anything. if i start driving it i want it to be mine in a few years. i dont like the limited miles thing either. by god if im paying you $6000 a year i'll drive that car as much as i want to. but thats my way of thinking. that's about like when you wreck your car and the insurance company gives you a rental that you have limited miles on. dang it, did i have limited miles on the car that is getting fixed because one of your dumbass drivers hit me? no,:2up: .

sorry about that. stick around and tell us about the new car.

Well, like I said, my GA was starting to scare me with all its little quirks and I just couldn't wait another year; LOL! Not to mention, the spy pics I saw of the G6 (if they're real) were very disappointing. I don't think I will regret my decision though, even if the G6 turns out to be what I hoped it would be. ;) As for the mileage issue, I averaged 14.5K/year on my GA, so I don't foresee a problem with that issue on the Infiniti. :) I THOUGHT I would want to keep my G/A for a long time, but I was honestly getting tired of it (not tired of looking at/admiring it though :) ). I imagine I'd get bored w/ any car after 4-5 years though, so leasing makes sense to me in this case.

Ohhhhhh man nice car. Why didn't you go for the 350Z? The motor and drivetrain are the same, only difference is the interior and exterior differences.

Some say the 350Z is more sportier while the G35 retains more class.....whatever hahaha they are both really sweeeet.

Hell I own a '86 Corolla (Hachi Roku) and a 2001 CBR F4i bike, but I am still on this board !! HAHAHAH..

THESE FORUMS ROXORZ MY COLORED SOXORZ OFFZORZ....:D

I got the G because of the cargo room and back seat, not to mention it just seems classier and the insurance is less on the G than the 350Z. Both are great, but the G was the only one of the 2 that met the practicality issue. ;)
