Yes I know that based on the date of the article this is something that came out a couple of years ago... I titled it new info because it was something that was never posted on these forums before as in "New to Us".

No its not the same guy. In fact, I'm the one of those who got really annoyed and who went off on the other person that you're speaking of whose only posts on this forum were always about Dex-Cool and what a horrible horrible product it was, blaming everything bad that had happened to his car on the Dex.

I posted the link because it spoke about one of the problems with Dex that many have brought up - the brown appearance - and explained about it being caused by chronically low coolant levels sometimes resulting from bad pressure caps on the cooling system. This in particular "Keep the cooling system filled. In fact, fill the reservoir bottle to “Hot” level when the system is cold." being one key aspect in keeping the coolant from becoming contaminated and changing colors. Its the rule I've alwasy followed with all of my vehicles - reguardless of the type of coolant in them. Fill to the hot mark when cold. Their is enough extra room in the cooling system to handle this slight overfilling and should a small leak develop that extra coolant gives you a slightly larger amount of coolant to help compensate for any loss, at least in the short run.

That's the method I used on my and my fiancee's Cultass Cieras when whe owned them since they always lost a bit of coolant between oil changes. Fill to hot line when cold. Check after 2 weeks and when the coolant reached the cold line when cold refill to hot line.
