Need to know the best way to carry two bikes for long distances on my Grand Am. Can't seem to locate a trailer hitch that will fit this years car!! Any help there? Also if no trailer hitches are available what is the best trunk rack to use? Thanks from Central Pennsylvania

I just have a walmart bike rack....I put a towel underneath it though before i put it on......And use the extra strap to tie the wheels so they arent spinning....works for me....They say it might not work with a spoiler though (but i dont have a spoiler...yet)

I have a pretty regular bike rack and it works with the spoiler. I'm not sure what brad it is but it's an older one. I've carried two bikes on it quite a few times and no accidents so far. When I get home I will see if I can get more info on my bike rack and let you know.

Are they expensive? I was wanting one as well, but have never really seen them...

... seen a trailer hitch the other day on a 99+ Grand AM SE .. it was towing a small Jet Ski ... if it were me, I'd continue to look for a trailer hitch (try looking for a local U-Haul as they usually have hitches) and then get the hitch adapter for bikes :)

I've always used the Meijer brand generic rack... Just make sure the wheels don't spin, and the more rope you use the better (lesson learned)...

I have a bike rack thats probably 5-10 years old, and it works perfect on my '95 GT (w/ spoiler). I've hauled two back and forth to college, which is a 2 hour trip with no problems. Only thing I have to watch is the tires of the bikes are only about 8-10 inches from the ground, if you're pulling in somewhere, go slow!

I've got a '97, and I had a Draw Tite hitch put on at a local independent repair shop. U-Haul also sells them, and I'm reasonably sure there's one for your year.
