Well on monday my car was hit by a Ford Windstar... Guy ran a red and chopped my front off... The cars totaled. So I have some money from the insurance, and some lying around, and I need some suggestions on a good used car.

I'm looking for another good running car, something that will last me a good 5 years (at the most, just to get me through college) with out to many problems. Any suggestions?... I'm trying to find something in the 5,000 dollar range. +- 2 grand.

PS: I'm 6' 1", I don't fit in a honda...

PSS: Gotta love the Grand Am's saftey, no human damages :P .

PSSS: Fu$$ you damn prick on the ford!!! :2up:

look good, but it's in NY, and a 99 =\. I'm trying to find something older... Just cause I'm still under a teenage plan, my insurance costs a lot. So I'm looking at low insurance vehicals. The best part about my 94 was for the 'automatic' seatbelts. It's in the manual! lol. Just plug in the seatbelt and if you open the door the seatbelt is long enough to let you get out. And the company gave me a discount for it ;-)

go me.

The car DEFINATELY worth a look bud as I have seen it personally ... it is simply awesome and has a very picky owner so you can be assured everything is well kept ... another thing, I am sure that if you purchased the car that John would make some sort of arrangements to help with delivery ... maybe you guys could meet hald way or something, but regardless, the car is certainly worth more investigation ... you should call you insurance company and see exactly ow much it would cost as the car is 5 years old now but it has very low miles :)

Yet thanks a lot of the offer, I don't think I'm looking for something that new. It's a great deal, but I was hopeing in finding something like my older grand am. It was cheap, easy to maintain, and low insurance. Right now I'm looking at old pick ups, like 95 and 97 yr old ones. The insurance on a truck will be a lot less than on a newer car. And that's my biggest problem. Because I'm the 'primary' driver of my car, my teenage rates are horrible. It's simply because my parents can't be primary drivers for 5 cars =\.

I'll still take your offer into concideration, but it looks like I'm stuck going with something older. *sigh*.

After the incident I've been more inclined on something taller. I don't know if any of you guys own a truck, or SUV, but you can really see over a lot of cars when you in one. That would've really helped in avoiding the collision.

cheers all

Sorry - had to do it. Hope it made you smile in this rough time!

So trucks are a bad idea?

What about like a Japanese car? Like Izuzu or Nissian, they make SUV's and stuff =\.

Look for a mid 90's Regal with the 3800. Out to be able to find one with about 80K mi on the clock in with a body in good shape that runs very well for about $4,000.

You being over 6ft will fit just fine. It'll be a nice comfy ride, and the 3800 is a damn near bullet-proof engine which you out to be able to get a good 5 years out of with no problem.

Things to watch out for:
-Intake manifold gasket - although not nearly as common of an occurrance as on the 3400 and 3100.
-A.C. pulley
-Electric door locks malfunctioning - as in they don't lock automatically any longer when the car is placed into gear but otherwise function fine. No big deal really.
